You mean an American adaptor for the plug or for the phone jack?

The former you can get in any travel shop which sell suitcases etc,

the latter, probably something like Tandy's I would have thought.

Actually no, british modems work in American sockets, you just have to

take the jack apart, the little see through plastic bit that fits into

the larger white bit, will fit into American sockets by itself. (and

work!)

Just had a look - don't think that will work as there is no see trough

plastic bit, just the white plastic thingumy that fits in a UK socket...

Thanks anyway!

Er, you should have found this out a couple of days ago - we have a few

US-UK-US (and UK-Aus-Aus alternate fitting) phone socket adaptors but

won't be able to dig one out and post it before you go.

You should be able to pick one up in any decent PC shop here.

That's a shame!!

Think I'll have to wait until I get to Boston as I can't think of any PC

shops near here - and I have no plans to go over to Guildford tomorrow. At

least I know I can get one.

I think we have one of these - it was used for a US pooter and UK phone

system though - but may be reversible. I can hunt for it and send it to

you friend in Boston if you like. No guarantees I'll find it in my

basement though. Let me know if you want me to look.

You could probably pick one up at the airport. Isn't there a Dixons at

LHR3?

Thanks Joyce, but I'll probably try to pick one up at he airport tomorrow (as

Sue W suggested) as I'm going to need it for 2 more trips this year and I can

claim it as a business expense!
