Guest guest
Hi , How long has your husband been diagnosed and have you had any success at decreasing the lung disease? I don't know what the percentages are but it would be nice to know how people with the same disease are making out. I don't know why my liver was not affected, but will consider myself lucky in that respect. Thanks for your reply. Guest guest
- Len, My husband started out thinking he had a gallstone, Dec 2003, lots of right side pain, (47 years old) did a U/S and it showed no gallstones but liver had masses in it. Gastro Dr. felt it was colon mets, which it was. Started on Chemo, no surgery, Oxaliplatin & Xeloda Jan 2004 - Dec 2004, Liver mets slowly went away on CT scan, but in Nov 2004 lung mets showed up, both lungs, 4-6 in each lung, mm size. CEA level was started to increase, up to 380 so felt time to change chemo. He started Avastin, Camptosar, Lev & 5fu Jan 2005, still taking this chemo, lungs are holding no changes, same mets are there but not growing. The liver is starting to show small mets mm sizes not the cm yet, which he had before. CEA level is starting to rise, already above 800, so looks like we will be changing chemo's soon. We are just trying to ride this chemo as long as we can, not too much left to take. The chemo is starting to take a toll on my husband. He really needs a break but we are scared to take one. Seems the doctors will let you keep taking chemo as long as your body can. How long have you been on treatment and what are you taking? Be thankful your liver is clear, seems more people have greater problems with the liver mets than lung mets. Hope you have a good Day. -- In colon_cancer_support , Len Henell <hlen@s...> wrote: > > Hi , > How long has your husband been diagnosed and have you > had any success at decreasing the lung disease? Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for writing. Please give your husband my best regards. I know just what he is feeling. I am on my 4th infusion this time and doing infusions ever third week of Avastin, Oxaliplatin and the stuff they give you for side effects. Plus I take 8 xeloda pills a day. I don't know if there has been any improvement yet. I had a cat scan last week and won't get the results until my next dr visit next week. My cea is always low. Take care and let us know how you are doing.
