Guest guest
Donna, Congradulations!!! Your getting there and the end of this is almost here!!! I am glad that the neuropathy subsided for you so quickly. I bet it was a shock to you!!! You need to put gloves on before you even go outside. With me any slight temperature change on my skin set it off. Last winter I often would wear two pair of gloves. (One glove inside the other) Keeping the cooler air from touching my skin helped so much. Of course I had to spend some time outside feeding live stock so often managed to put three gloves on each hand. Layering the gloves kept warm air pockets between each layer so the cooler air did not not touch my skin to set off those dreaded shocking tingles. As for having the sinus headaches... Can you ask your Onc for prescription sinus pills. They would be stronger and may help. I think the chemo makes your sinuses more sensitive so you may need something stronger. Hang in there!!!! Your almost there. Then a time for your body to heal and get stronger. You have been doing great to get this far. Sending a Prayer for you. Love, Ingrid > > I had day 1 of round 8 today and when I stood up to leave, the neuropathy in my hands was awful. Usually I just feel occasional tingles and it doesn't start right away. Guest guest
That darn neuropathy, at least is subsides. I never had it bad during chemo but now that I am done it is much worse and course our little cool snap yesterday intensified it. But if that is worst of it right now, I can take it. Cheers Jolene. Guest guest
I am feeling pretty darn good, and hope to get the definitive word from my oncologist next week. Now I have this pre-diabetic thing to work with and have to start watching what I eat, also try and get my cholesterol lowered and hopefully to lose some weight. Sigh. Always something. But I feel great. Going to Celtic Festival this weekend so plan to have a good time. Take Care Jolene Re: now I relate! > > > > > In a message dated 10/31/2005 11:59:03 PM Eastern Standard Time, > wilkinsondjm@y... writes: > > I had day 1 of round 8 today and when I stood up to leave, the neuropathy > in > my hands was awful. Guest guest
Hi Donna: Congrats on another round of chemo. I had day one of round 7 today and I asked my oncologist about the sudden onset of your symptoms. I am told that it is unusual for it to affect you so suddenly. I feel what you described as occasional tingles in my fingers. As for headaches, I have them also and they are bad. I was told not to take Tylenol because I had a liver met and it isn't good for the liver. Try Advil; Aleve is also good but Advil is faster working. Guest guest
Donna, I'm real sorry to here your hands are so bothersome. I have started carrying gloves most of the time (even though it's 60 degrees out) and I have to drive with the gloves on. As for the sinus situation I have had almost no sinus irritation since I started chemo because the sinus reaction to alergens is from the immune system. Since the immune system is supressed the sinuses don't act up. Verta takes Tylenol Alergy Sinus caplets but she takes one Asprin with them because the tylenol doesn't work on her as a pain reducer. I just use the caplets when I need to and they work fine. You have to get the ones that have the antihistimine in them. Some only have sudafed and tylenol and they don't do much. Guest guest
Thank you Lydia. I have not heard of the Indoxen but I will look it up. If it will knock me out I may not want to take it as I am still working! The chemo knocked me out Tues and today so I did not get to work - oh well, we do what we can, right!! hugs and prayers to you and yours - donna mily wrote: Hi Donna, Have you tried Aleve? When sometimes Tylenol doesn't work I may take Alive. Or, one of each at the same time. However the best thing to me is Indoxen, which they also have in the States. ( Indoxen, you get it with a prescription but it knocks you down to sleep.) However, because you are going through Chemo, maybe your doctor can prescribe what is better for you. I am so sorry for your headaches, I know exactly what you mean. take care, you are very strong ! Guest guest
Thanks Ingrid, I was thinking about pulling my riding gloves out but they may not be thick enough if you are having to wear 2 pairs! I'll try it. I guess I have felt lucky that it hasn't been so bad, guess my luck is out. Oh well, we do what we have to do! You know I did ask the PA, onc was out of office this week, and she said they could give me a narcotic! Now why would I want to go to that extreme! Then she said to try Claritan. Whatever, I'll try the Advil and Aleve since the tylenol didn't help. hugs and prayers - love you Ingrid Lowe wrote: Donna, Congradulations!!! Your getting there and the end of this is almost here!!!
