Guest guest
Sounds a bit like Robbie..NO, NO, NO, I did not say that. Robbie is social. Everyone says he is not on the spectrum. He's just a bit tantrum-y, defiant, and has speech issues. I do think you can probably tell that he is related to people on the spectrum though even though I truly do NOT think he is there. He's....quirky. Salli
Guest guest
Well, sounds a lot like Boone, actually. When he's unhappy anyway. Sissi

Guest guest
Have you tried the PECS picture system to help them choose what they want? My son is completely non-verbal so I don't really know what you are dealing with but it does help him communicate with us.
Guest guest
> Have you tried the PECS picture system to help them choose what they want? We did Cindy. We tried for a year. He hates PECS and flings them in the trash or at your face and screams. He won't use them at school either except to transition to one of his tutors. He prefers ASL and will use it, but he is still having problems communicating ideas. We are speculating that he could be having trouble with matching the right word to the right noun, especially since his noun usage is delayed even more than the rest. He does like reference books though and the ESL dictionary, so we are going to tryout a flip book or laminated book with category pages and pics on them to help prompt the right word choice. Maybe. In theory. Unless he throws that in the trash too. > My son is completely non-verbal so I don't really know what you are dealing > with but it does help him communicate with us. I'm glad it works for you. My theory is whatever works. If PECS work, thats super! I had really thought it would be a good tool for , but...so far not. Maybe the book idea will be a take though.
