Guest guest
Hi, Malisa. Sorry to hear that your mom has this disease. Some people in the hospital where she had her colonoscopy should know some good doctors. If you prefer to do a search on your own, click on this link and scroll to the very bottom: http://www.thehealthpages.com/articles/ar-colon.html Click on your state and then a page about doctors will open. On the part 1, click it open and look for the specialty called " colon and rectal surgery. " Then part 2 you put in your zip code or the county where you live. Then enter the distance you are willing to travel. Part 3 has other options you can choose, such as male or female doctor, how long they have been in practice, etc. If you fill these out and there is no match, you may have to go back and change something until you find a good doctor. Not every place has a doctor who specializes in colon and rectal surgery. Hope this helps you. Prayers for everyone in this group. ~Deb from KS malisa101664 wrote: My mother was just diagnosed with colon cancer. The tumor is about the size of a golf ball and covers about 15 cm of her colon. The location is close to bend that connects to the anus. She was brought in for ultrasound on the 18th of Oct and blood work showed her two units low of red blood. She was immediately admitted and several tests were done. During the upper and lower GI and colonoscopy is when it was discovered. She got her first chemo therapy today of fluorouracil. How do I find out who the best doctor for her treatments would be. We live in Arkansas and can not afford to go out of state. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Of course if you are looking for an oncologist, you could do the same search, just in part 1 click on " Hematology/Oncology.
