Guest guest
Hi all. I just found out this afternoon that Evan's SPED teacher (he's in SPED pre-school) is recommending him for what they call " extended school year " . That means he would continue to go to school for ST, OT and some SDD classroom time during the summer. This IS a good thing, right?? I had my own little " meltdown " with his teacher this afternoon but I'm positive that was a good thing. She really is awesome and I do make sure she knows that. Love, prayers and heart hugs, Debbie (GA), Mom to Evan (4.5 y/o with ToF, RBBB, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asthma); (now a whole year old and HH and NT?); and my 3 angel babies whom I will finally see when God says it's time! 9:1-
Guest guest
I think it's a great thing, Debbie. ESY will help make sure Evan doesn't lose the skills he's worked so hard to gain. If didn't attend a year-round school, I'd push for it. Maggie ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
Yes Debbie, this is a good thing. I know quite a few mothers who have had to fight tooth and nail to get ESY (extended school year) for their kids. He'll keep progressing through the summer instead of standing still or worse, regressing. Wonderful news! Guest guest
Thanks so much. I appreciate you saying that. It does help me to know that others agree that this is a good thing. Guest guest
Thanks Debbie. I really do have to agree with you there. Until today I kept thinking about what it would be like in August when he would start back or, worse yet, what the summer would be like with him not in school. We're also trying to get him into Pre-K for next school year and that would mean he would go to Pre-K in the mornings and then still spend the afternoons with Miss (the SPED teacher) in the same building even!! Guest guest
I think that I would be carried out of my house dead if ESY did not exist. Two weeks of Putter home all the day is enough to drive him insane (he really does better with scheduled activities and I cannot schedule him activities while four other kids are screaming at me) and just totally do me in. I love my Putt. But... Salli
Guest guest
Yes it's a good thing! He'll continue to get the services he needs and he won't have a chance to loose skills he's gained by having time off from them! Good for you! Good for him! A lot of parents have to fight to get ESY. Guest guest
Yes, it's great that they recommended ESY. It's not very easy to get or to justify. Jacqui will be attending ESY this summer for her services only. Penny :-D Good?? News Hi all.
