Guest guest Posted November 10, 2005 Report Share Posted November 10, 2005 Here's IRELAND 10 Day Ireland Pubs & Castles Tour July 5th - 14th 2006 Dublin City Tour, Glendalough Monastic Settlement, Avoca Handweavers, Kilkenny Castle, Kyteler's 14th Century Medieval Coaching Inn, Waterford Crystal Factory, Rock Of Cashel, Cahir Castle, Barryscourt Castle, Blarney Castle, Kinsale, International Museum of Wine, Fish Market Tavern Kinsale, Lakes of Killarney, Muchross House and Friary, Danny Mann's Traditional Music Pub, Dingle Peninsula Tour, Bunratty Castle with Medieval Dinner and more. A small intimate tour of Ireland limited to 10-12 people in order to provide a more personal experience. In keeping the tour size small we are able to take advantage of accommodation, restaurant and sightseeing options that would not be available to a larger group. With a small tour size we can veer off the main tourist areas and get a real feel for these warm wonderful countries. We will not rush you from venue to venue and each tour is designed to spend as little time on the minibus as possible. You may find yourself staying in a delightful city guest house, a warm country house hotel or farmhouse and a 200 year old coaching Inn all in the same visit. Full Irish breakfast each morning and all meals as indicated in itinerary. All accommodations. Guided minibus tour with luggage handling. All sightseeing including any entrance fees. Day 1 - Depart for Dublin, Ireland's largest and capital city. Day 2 - Arrive in Dublin with time enough for some sightseeing and shopping in Ireland's Capitol City. We will take an Open Top Bus Tour with hop on and off service this afternoon. Sights we'll see on the tour are Guinness Storehouse, Phoenix Park, Old on Distillery, Christ Church Cathedral, St. 's Cathedral. This evening we will gather for a Welcoming Pub Dinner to kick off the tour! Overnight in Dublin. Day 3 - This morning is free to take in Grafton Street for Shopping or to do some additional sightseeing. This afternoon we make our way south first stopping at Glendalough, " the valley of the two lakes " , which harbors one of Ireland's most atmospheric monastic sites. Established in the 6th century by St. with most buildings dating from the 8th to 12th centuries. Our next stop will be Avoca where Avoca Handweavers produce colorful tweeds in the oldest hand-weaving mill in Ireland, in operation since 1723. Our journey will take us further south to Kilkenny, Ireland's loveliest inland city. Traditional Pub Dinner and Outing. Overnight in Kilkenny. Day 4 - Following a hearty breakfast we will visit Waterford which was founded in 853 by the Vikings. We will take some time to investigate the city before we make our way a short ways out of the city to Waterford Crystal Factory which was founded in 1783. Visitors to the factory can follow all stages of the glass production. This afternoon we return to Kilkenny to visit Kilkenny Castle and French Classical Gardens. Built in the 1190's, the castle was occupied right up until 1935. Dinner at Kyteler's 14th Century Medieval Coaching Inn. Overnight in Kilkenny. Day 5 - This morning's journey finds us heading towards Cashel and the Rock Of Cashel the seat of the Kings of Munster since the 6th century. The Rock is spectacular sited and can be seen for miles. Cahir and Cahir Castle is next on the agenda. Cahir is built on a rocky island in the River Suir and is one of the most formidable castles in Ireland and a popular film set. This well-preserved fortress dates from the 13th century. Our journey will take us even further south to Carrigtohill and Barryscourt Castle. Barryscourt with its largely intact bawn wall and corner towers, is a fine example of an Irish Tower House. From here is just a short ways to Kinsale. Evening free to explore the many eateries of Kinsale. Overnight Kinsale. Day 6 - After breakfast there will be plenty of free time to visit the pretty seaside village of Kinsale. While in Kinsale we'll visit Desmond Castle(French Prison) and also host to the International Museum of Wine. The museum documents the intriguing story of Ireland's wine links. Dinner tonight at the Fish Market Tavern in Kinsale. Overnight Kinsale. Day 7 - Following breakfast we head toward Killarney where visit Muchross House and Gardens, a magnificent n mansion and one of Ireland's leading stately homes. We will also visit Muchross Friary, founded in the 15th century and in a remarkable state of preservation. The tower is the only Franciscan tower in Ireland. Killarney has many good pubs with excellent live entertainment. Tonight it is out to Danny Mann's Traditional Music Pub for Dinner and Musical Entertainment. Overnight Killarney. Day 8 - An early start this morning after a hearty breakfast finds us on A Tour of The Dingle Peninsula. The Dingle Peninsula offers some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery. A drive around the area reveals fascinating antiquities ranging from Iron Age Stone Forts to Inscribed Stones, early Christian Oratories and Beehive Huts. Stops include Dunbeg Fort, Slea Head, Ballyferriter, Kilmalkedar and Gallarus Oratory Drystone Church. After exploring Dingle we will return to Killarney with an afternoon free for shopping and enjoying a night out in the city. Overnight in Killarney. Day 9 - We can have a late breakfast this morning before traveling to the village of Adare, billed as Ireland's prettiest village. We will have a bit of free time here for some shopping and sightseeing. A Trinitarian Priory was founded here in 1230 and is now a beautiful Catholic church. Also a Augustinian Priory founded in 1315. Also known as Black Abbey, this is a very well restored priory. Then on to Bunratty Castle, a 15th century formidable castle which is probably Ireland's most famous. After a tour of the castle and Bunratty Folk Park we will partake of a true Medieval Banquet at the castle. Overnight Bunratty. Day 10 - Following breakfast we head back toward Dublin with our first stop being Roscrea and Roscrea Castle. The castle was built in the 1280's and has furnished rooms and exhibitions. Further on we come to Emo Court, designed in 1790 by Gandon and a fine example of the neo-classical style. From here we are off to Celbridge and Castletown which is the largest and most significant Palladian style country house in Ireland. Farewell Dinner and Overnight just outside of Dublin.
