How have you been determining metal excretion? If you have been using

challenge tests, please stop because the metals stirred up by the high

dose of chelator used can do significant harm. If you have been

collecting urine during a chelation round, that is ok, but the results

are not very meaningful.

ALA can be added 3 months after significant exposure. That is why on

the groups we keep saying ALA can be added 3 months after amalgam

removal. The same rule would apply for other exposures, like vaccines

for example. If your child has been amalgam and vaccine free for more

than 3 months then it's ok to add ALA.

See TKs general recommendations in the files section. We recommend

starting DMSA at 1/8 mg per pound and doing several rounds at that

dose. If there are significant side effects the dose needs to be

lowered. Do several rounds of DMSA until you are comfortable with

chelation then add ALA at 1/8 mg per pound. If side effects are

significant the dose needs to be lowered. Chelate for several months

at a comfortable dose before increasing.

the first was a traditional Dan Dr. Challenge test.

The second (2 months later) was done on the last day of a 3

day " frequent dose protocol " .

thanks for the information.

Many of the Dan Dr. pages warn against adding ALA before all the

lead is out of the body. Why the decrepancy?

For those who have been successful in their chelation, how long did

they use DMSA before adding in ALA?

Because DAN doctors do not understand how to use ALA properly, they

don't understand that it must be taken in small doses at the half life

(every 3 h), and so they have advised people to take huge infrequent

doses and messed lots of people up. It is very unfortunate because no

one in the DAN community seems to recognize the truth about how to use

ALA properly.

Initially the DAN movement was using Andy's protocol and then someone

decided to change how they used the chelators and did not take into

account the pharmacology of the chelators. It does not make any sense

that this has happened but it is just something that happened. The

DAN community also use DMSA, DMPS, EDTA, and other things improperly.

Ha - most of the successful folks dont log on anymore - lol

My first series of chelation I stayed at 12.5 mg of DMSA; then after 5

months of 4 days on / 3-5days off, I started on 12.5 mg of ALA. {total

time of this first series was 13 months.]

I learned that it helped me more to start the DMSA for a half day's

doses, and then start the ALA. I also stopped the ALA about a half-day

before stopping the round. Thought the DMSA would kinda " mop up "

anything that permeated thru the BBB from the ALA action.

{again, MY thoughts on all this.]

I finally got up to 18.00 mg DMSA and also the ALA.[give or take; I was

trying to split the capsules - a real hassle]

I am one of those people who felt much better on ALA than the DMSA-only

regime; but then again, I waited quite a while to make sure I wasnt

perhaps getting Hg INTO the brain instead of getting it OUT.

This series I am back on 12.5 mg DMSA alone. Had tried the 18. and got

wierd anxiety after 3 days, so I am backing off. I will start the 12.5

mg ALA here in a month or so and see how it goes.

We all have our own unique side effects and its up to us to discern how

much side effects we can take while on rounds. If I didnt have to work,

I'd take the 18 mg each, but living my life like I do and as busy as I

am now, I just dont want to feel that wonky. And I think its not worth

the wonky to try to pull the TM out more quickly - dontthink it happens

like that anyway. Research the past entries to find out for sure.
