Guest guest
hi everyone, Background...23 rounds, ALA and DMSA. Frequent dose. Getting better slowly. A few things I have noticed. I always feel worse the first 1/2 of my cycle and feel better the second 1/2. This has been documented for months. Also I am tired in the afternoon. Don't seem to have much energy for more than the basics with a little bit of work. I did an adrenal panel two years ago and I start my day fairly normal and then plummet through the morning to the afternoon where I am at the low end of the range. I am on adrenal extracts- can't do licorice. Want to try cortisol but can't seem to get it yet...here are my test results. Any comments or insights would be welcome. DHEAS........9.3 .........3.0-11.0 within range for age Cortisol am 8.9 .........2.0-11.0 noon cort 1.5 .........1.0-7.0 low end of range dinner cort 0.6 .........0.5-3.5 low end of range bedtime 0.7 .........0.2-1.3 Should I be pushing for cortisol? Should I continue chelating with these results? Anybody with some experience with this? thanks in advance Colette

Hi Jada, thank you for your response. i wasn't clear. I have done the salvia test recently and my results were below. Two years ago I also did it and in the two year period my adrenal status has not changed. Still plummeting in the morning and low for the whole day. I am on adrenal cortex and have been for 8 months or more. 4 tabs (165mg) throughout the day. We can't get iscort in Canada but my understanding is that it has the adrenal cortex and cortisol in it. My current adrenal cortex in grandulars only. Is my understanding correct? Chelating is > stressful to the adrenals and this is when the true adrenal fatigue > rears it's ugly head. 23 rounds is about when my son had to be put on > adrenal cortex, because his adrenal symptoms became obvious. > > After personally using HC and adrenal cortex..honestly..I'd try the > natural cortex first. Jada, you have given me lots to think about. I do take B comples. I haven't tried Ashwaghanda at least not without licorice... I am having trouble getting cortisol and have concerns. Thanks Colette
Guest guest
This information helps much more. I misunderstood your post, as the results were two years old. Sorry. I will assume this recent test was done while not on adrenal cortex. Having been off of it for two weeks before testing. Your correct with the Isocort and adrenal cortex information. It makes a world of difference when you say your already on it. For some people, they do need HC. On the adrenal board they would probably tell you to try to extend your own cortisol with licorice. But I think you said you were not able to take that.So then you'd try other herbal and vitamin support. Any way to get a ACTH stim test? To be sure your adrenal fatigue is not caused by pituitary? It's probably not, or you'd have a lot of other hormone problems, but they usually advise you rule out a pituitary problem before using HC. Because this will tell you if you need to take it forever or just for a while. Are you using celtic sea salt daily too? There is no thyroid problem right? That will cause these afternoon crashes too and will stress the adrenals further. For me I need a bit of HC and adrenal cortex. However, in hindsight...I'd like to be off the HC and am working towards that so I can get some testing done. It helps my adrenal symptoms but not my weight! Before going on it, you have to be sure your going to be able to get it regularly..you can't run out. It's one of those things that needs to be weaned off of. There is always hydrocortisone cream. As in Andy's book this can be used in place of HC pills. wrote: > > > > > > If you did this test 2 years ago and have thus been chelating > > since...it's likely your adrenal state has changed. > > Hi Jada, thank you for your response. i wasn't clear. Guest guest
The saliva test is not accurate if your on ace. Ace will improve adrenal function. So likely they might be a bit worse than what the test shows. Honestly, Isocort was not that great anyway. I tried it and I found that I had to go back on adrenal cortex and take HC separately. But for some..I guess it works well. Serum Cortisol and ACTH stim test are recognized by regular doctors for evaluating adrenals. An ND would probable accept the saliva and maybe redo it for you without the adrenal cortex so you can get a better picture of adrenal status. > > ===Thank you Jada.
