Guest guest
What can I do to gain weight? This is scaring me. I'm 5' 10 " . My normal, " healthy " body weight has always been 140, with very little fluctuation. Last week I was 130. I was pretty concerned about it at that point and trying to find ways to eat more. Now I'm 127 pounds. That means my BMI is 18.2. I've NEVER been this light. My breasts are disappearing. My hip bones protrude. People around me are starting to think I'm anorexic. I'm not. Anorexic people irrationally think they're fat and their life will be happier if they can just lose a little more weight. That's not me--I KNOW this is not good. I just can't seem to get enough food into me. I know chelation is my cure. Please bear with me. Once I get my extraction (schedule for Aug. 23rd), I'll finally be able to chelate. I've been in the Hg dump phase for 5 or 6 months now. Problems that could be making this worse: 1. Very hypoadrenal. On HC for this. High calorie foods tend to be the sugary foods I need to avoid. 2. Limited in what I can eat. Very reactive to sulfur foods and salycilates. Avoiding these makes me much more functional. 3. TMJ pain/stiffness in jaw makes it tiresome to chew for very long. Big meals tire my jaw muscles. I need to use my blender more, I know. 4. My appetite is easily quelled after eating maybe half the food on my plate. I think Andy talked about this being a hypopituitary issue. Something about the appetite not matching caloric needs. This does seem to be happening w/me. This must not be allowed to go on much longer.
Guest guest
, I can't store iron and I lose weight fast if I don't eat a lot of beef. I also lose my appetite from low iron. Seems to affect my stomach acid production. Went two days without it just now and didn't sleep well I think due to poor digestion. Iron deficiency and glutamine deficiency are the two things that make the weight drop off fast. I'm 5'7 " , was 125-130 in my 20's, and am really doing well these days if I can get up to 118-120. Dropped back down to 112 again before realizing the salicylate issue. But for me, my weight isn't about how much I eat or even what I eat. it's about -- to use a metaphor -- keeping water from leaking from the bucket rather than putting it in. I went from 220 to 160 (29 yo male, 6'1 " in bare feet) in about 14 months before I stopped losing weight, and I have not started chelation yet. Hopefully your body will find a balance even with the Hg and will plateau as mine seems to have. This symptom has been by far the most worrisome for me as well. > 2. Limited in what I can eat. Already have a limited diet due to all these random food allergies that have popped up and now have to limit sulfur...frustrating isn't it! My only advice is to find what you can eat and plan plan plan your meals. Try to get 4 meals in a day (I can't for the life of me do 5). I find that if I plan and prep, then it becomes automatic and I definitely get more calories in me than if I shoot from the hip. I can tell you that even during my weight loss phase I was able to put on weight if I *really* tried and forced myself to eat a ton. I've found ginger helps my appetite but I do not know if it is a high thiol/sal food. Best of luck...hang in there. Ross
