Guest guest
On top of HCL, what kinds of enzymes do people here take? Thanks.
Guest guest
I went through many years of trial .. I tried seperate ones for each type of digestion, and then my doctor recommended adding in bile salts.. I now take two with each meal --- Super ENzymes by NOW .. which has a full range for enzyme breakdown .. HCL {200mg} pancreatin ,etc , plus the 100mg of ox bile.. Plus I take three pills of Betaine HCL with each meal from Natural Factors Each pill has 500 mg of Betaine HCL I was not comfortable with taking the HCL as per my article about taking a liquid solution.. worried about the affects on my teeth. Guest guest
I currently take JARRO-ZYMES PLUS (sorry for the caps, that's how it is on the label!), by Jarrow Formulas. It contains porcine pancreatin enzymes, which are supposed to be better than vegetable based ones. It was recommended for me by . I also take 3 capsules of Betaine HCl (520mg each) and 1 chromium picolinate (200mcg) at each meal, along with one of the above. Guest guest
Wow, my new HCl supplement has about 300mg in each tab, and it says to take one with each meal. Just how much do we need? Also, is there any standard advice about particular digestive enzymes? There seem to be lots of different suggestions here. Thanks, . Guest guest
Dh & I are currently taking NOW Super Enzymes, which are digestive enzymes plus HCl. We take Peptizyde by Houston for any suspected gluten infractions. Both of my kids have taken Houston's Peptizyde, Zyme Prime and/or No Fenol in the past, which I consider to be top-notch enzyme products. I'm taking Wobenzyme on an empty stomach for joint inflammation.
Guest guest
I take a total of 1900 mg per meal... three from Natural Factors of 500 mg each plus two NOW super enzymes with 200mg each... and have been on that dose for a few years , helps alot and no problems. I tried lowering it but no go,I just need to continue to fork out the dough..lol.. At the beginning my doctor told me to start at the one pill , in my case it was 500mg per pill and then keep on adding until you notice it is too much..nanci > > Wow, my new HCl supplement has about 300mg in each tab, and it says to > take one with each meal. Guest guest
Jackie has some great advice about digestive enzymes and HCl. Here is what I've learned from my experience: I take the following high doses of digestive enzymes. All of these are capsules. Tablets are harder for the body to digest and use, and I think my digestive system needs all the help I can give it. 500 to 2500 mg (depending on meal size) of 8x Pancreatin with every meal and snack. Note: most Pancreatin is 4x.) If the meal contains grain, dairy, or beans, I add one strong broad-spectrum multi-enzyme by Healthy Reflections. If the meal contains substantial dairy, I add 130 mg of lactase. If the meal contains meat, I add up to 2600 mg of Betaine HCl. It's a handful, but I take this much because I have suffered from leaky gut syndrome and shifting allergies/sensitivities to many different foods over the years. I used to " crash " with exhaustion and brain fog 90 minutes after eating. Taking these enzymes avoids that, assuming I don't eat foods that I am truly allergic to, such as soy. My working theory is that mercury, arsenic, and their ilk are blocking the mineral rececptors on various enzymes in my body, rendering them ineffective, as Andy describes in AI. My body now has a functional shortage of enzymes, and food doesn't get digested properly, energy doesn't get transferred and used properly, and other processes are not working properly. BTW, I have felt better and had more energy after taking GliSODin, a form of SuperOxide Dismutase (SOD) that helps clear unwanted oxides from the mitochondria so they work better. I hope this helps some of you with digestive issues. -
