Guest guest
, I too had those bad reactions with the cold. By my 10th treatment they started reducing the dosage of the Oxy, Has your doctor talked of reducing it??? It did help me tremendously. Just a thought. Guest guest
Hi Marty and , I am not going to say that either of you are wrong but my experience has been thus. After the first infusion my cold pricklies went away in a day. Then with each treatment they lasted longer until they almost last the entire three weeks. I use no crack cream on my hands about 10 times a day and that really helps my hands. I have to wear gloves to touch anything less than 67 degrees, though, so I keep gloves in my pocket. I found that wearing two thick pair of socks helped the feet a little. I have one big pair of wool socks that I wear when they are clean. They last a couple of days since they are on the outside. I'm on infusion number 6 and when the onc saw my feet (a real mess) she reduced my xeloda by one eighth a day. I agree with you that I thought it was the oxaliplatin but she didn't. Cream may help on the foot bottoms but I don't know. Good luck. I wish there was a good onc on this site to comment on these things. Guest guest
, I had the usual (same as you) symptoms from day one of treatment, in fact, the cold sensitivity and the closing up of my throat started before I even left the oncology unit.. It did not get REALLY bad, I mean almost totally numb hands and feet until several weeks AFTER the treatment was completed (all 12 cycles). The docs never suggested lowering the oxaly dose, even though the nurses did. I figured, if I was going to go through this Hell, I wanted all the juice they could give me!!! Guest guest
The neuropathy (cold, tingles, numbness) and the hand-and-feet syndrome (cracking, etc on soles of feet and palms) are two different things, both attributable to oxalyplatin. That is what all the literature says. Marty All the best, Marty " P.S. Don't miss my sig file below -- the system really is amazing!!! I built the whole site by myself!!! Guest guest
According to the info I got with the Xeloda, it's the Xeloda that causes hand and foot syndrome and oxaliplatin causes the neuropathy. Either way, they both suck...lol Marty and Ellen Grogin wrote: The neuropathy (cold, tingles, numbness) and the hand-and-feet syndrome (cracking, etc on soles of feet and palms) are two different things, both attributable to oxalyplatin.
