Hi Jackie,

RE: " -----------Yes, I also believe this theory that the mercury

compromises our immune systems and doesn't allow us to get rid of

viruses, so they just hang around in our bodies. It has definitely

been part of my problem. I take *lots* of immune boosting things

now, and it seems to help. "

I have had some sort of chronic infection (whether viral or bacterial

I'm not sure) for the past 13 to 19 years (hard to say precisely when

it started, but it was within that time frame). Basically, it's a

sore throat coupled with a chronic, low-grade fever. Also, nasal

congestion. Would also get colds very easily and my throat would be

very sensitive to drafts. Also, on every blood test I've done in the

last 2 or 3 years, my WBC has always been elevated above the normal

reference range, which is further proof there's an infection going on.

Seems like some sort of upper respiratory infection, but don't know

precisely what, and doctors weren't really able to figure it out as

well. Tried taking antibiotics for it last fall (Avelox), but it

still remained.

Anyway, I've heard a lot about how mercury can severely suppress the

immune system, and it was also interesting to read what you wrote

above -- about how it allows viruses to just hang around in our

bodies for a long time (sounds like me).

I wanted to ask two things...

First, I just started chelation almost 2 weeks ago (DMPS 10mg every 6

hours), and am on my 3rd round as we speak. Starting more so with

the 2nd round, I've felt significant improvement in a few areas (was

NOT expecting such a rapid change). One of the things to improve is

the aforementioned chronic low-grade fever and sore throat. Of

course, I still have it somewhat, but overall, it's improved

considerably. I'm not " burning up " anymore, and the sore throat is a

little less too.

I wanted to ask -- do you know if it's common for improvement to

happen so quickly once starting chelation, incl. symptoms related to

the immune system?

I'd actually be very curious to get a blood test done sometime soon

to see if my WBC has gone down at all. I wouldn't be surprised if it

has.

Also, can I ask you what immune-boosting things you take that has

helped you?

I feel as though, now that the amalgams are out and the chelation

might be helping, taking a few more immune-boosting supplements might

really help it along. Maybe after ALL these years, there's the

*possiblity* now that I can finally kick this thing to the curb. :P

Thanks so much,

Suzanne

-----------Just curious if you can remember if you had any dental work done or

other exposure around that time when this chronic stuff started to happen.

Because that's what happened to me. Between 1987-1990 I had 5 of my old

childhood amalgams replaced with new high copper amalgams, and that was the

start of my decline. And like you, it started out with lots of sore throats,

colds, sinus infections, upper respiratory stuff, etc. I developed allergies

and chronic sinus problems/infections, which I had *never* had

before.---------Jackie

-----------Yes, I remember going to the doctor after having a horrible winter

and being sick all the time, and actually crying and asking why am I sick all

the time now, when I had been so healthy before, and all he could come up with

was I had *prolonged viral syndrome*, and wrote me a note, that I may miss alot

of work because of this. Unfortunately, I didn't do my own research back then,

and spent years gobbling sinus medicine and antibiotics for sinus infections.

Long story short, don't expect your doctor to find the root

cause.----------Jackie

-----------I can't remember how long post amalgam removal you are? Many

people feel much better shortly after, called the honeymoon period, and

chelation would/should only make this better, so no, I wouldn't say that it's

not uncommon.

I think I have heard it put that when your immune system was under constant

bombardment from daily mercury exposure, that at some point it just gives up.

And then when you remove your fillings, it kind of says " yeah! " and jumps back

into action. Seems plausible, and might be whats happening.

Also, since the amalgams were in your mouth and you were breathing the vapor,

just think of the location and proximity to your upper respiratory tract, so it

makes alot of sense to me that these areas would be affected, and that they may

also see rapid improvement after removing the amalgams and starting chelation.

My sinuses have been much better.--------Jackie

----------Yes that would be interesting. Let us know if you do.--------Jackie

-----------I think I will put this in another post, since this one is getting

long already. Some of the stuff/ideas has come from posts by Andy, which I

think Jay has in the onibasu links he gave on immunity.----------Jackie

----------Yes, hopefully you're on the right track now. Actually one reason I

pursued the immune stuff so much, is that I would get sick frequently after

rounds of chelation. This was especially before I started any adrenal support.

So there is also an adrenal element to this too. That is one sign of weak

adrenals, frequent infections and difficulty recovering from them, etc. So keep

that in mind also.--------Jackie

Thanks so much,

Suzanne
