World Trade Centre / Pentagon

I know this is political but - Oh my God.

Just heard news that the twin tower World Trade Centre have

collapsed, and that a plane has crashed onto Pentagon too.

It's crazy but my first raction is to ring all my friends in the US

even though only one of them is likely to be anywhere near the

Pentagon. My brother is in Chicago. Don't think there are potential

targets there is there.

Holding my breath in case London is on the list too.

I have family in Brooklyn, and I called them; thank God they are all

safe; they said they could see the smoke from where they are. My

BIL actually told me about the collapse of the second twin tower

before the news reported it here.

Karina no it is not crazy that was my first reaction to you want to know people

you love are safe even if you know that they wont logically have been near the

place it happened..

My mil have been trying to get through to her sister (in America) but all lines

are closed no calls going through..

My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you

start.

So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake.

I feel better already.

Well, have just logged on and read this: all the kids are home so don't want

to turn on TV if it's distressing - will go and get radio. What's going

on?? Are they bombs, or what??

See www.cnn.com for breaking news in brief. Basically, both towers of World

Trade Center have collapsed after hijacked passenger planes were crashed

into them. Also Pentagon similar thing, though only some of it damaged.

Not sure if they are bombs yet Vicki, but highjacked planes have been

flown directly into key buildings in NY and Washington; the twin

towers, and the pentagon. The former twin towers have completely

collapsed, fuelling the fears that there *were* timed bombs on board

the planes. Horrifically the highjacked planes were passenger

carrying jets. (((

Have just been reading CNN and listening to the radio. I'm chilled.

I hope all of you who have friends/relatives out there get some good news,

and very soon. My thoughts are with all of you and all of those poor people

involved.

I got through to my brother in Chicago on the 2nd attempt about an

hour ago.

He & his wife (8 months pregnant) are both OK, my brother was working

from home today and my SIL rang in before she went downtown Chicago

just to be told that her building was being evacuated (she works next

to the Sears Tower).

My SIL's family are all in New York and she is still waiting to her

from some of them. Her elderly granddad is in a hospital very close

to the WTC - they think he is OK but it'll probably be very traumatic

for him with all the smoke and perhaps casualties coming in. Noone

can visit him as everything is at a standstill downtown New York. But

we're lucky noone we know seems to have been killed.

Still waiting to track down a friend who is a US congressman.
