Guest guest
An excerpt from the book " The Finishing Touch " by Swindoll. It is as much for the caregiver and those that love someone who has a hard situation, as it is for the person suffering. I found this pretty profound, especially after I read it a couple times...Donelle God's Delivery Service I don't know where this finds you today, but I have a sneaky suspicion that you, too, might have a few intruders crowding into your life and could use some divine reinforcements. If so, say so. Don't hesitate to call for help. Tell your Father that you are running out of hope and energy and ideas...that your mind is getting foggy and you need " ...not words taught by human wisdom, but those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words...For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ " (1 Cor 2:13, 16) Since I cannot name all the possible tests being endured by everyone who reads my words, I will pick only one. You may have cancer. Damnable disease! The very word has a hiss in it!!! When the doctor uses it (or one of its nicer-sounding synonyms), it's devastating. Your heart is chilled, your head swims, you think you might have misunderstood, but you know you didn't. Words like 'incurable' and 'terminal' and 'treatments' and 'therapy' crowd out all other thoughts as you lay awake at night. For the first time in your earthly existence you feel mortal. Prayer is no longer a theological theory. Your life passes in review. You fear a long and painful process after which you may recover.. or you may not. Your body is carrying a disease...but you are determined not to let it conquer your mind. Good for you! Your physical appearance may change and your health may go through some severe ups and downs, but your spirit can remain triumphant. You want that more than anything else this side of a miraculous healing. So what can you do? You dial " Heaven 911 " and you tell God you have an emergency need: " I have cancer, Lord, and I need wisdom. " And at that very moment He will begin to make His deliveries. Each morning from then on, you ask for, and accept, the gift of His wisdom and you count on His strength for that day. Amazingly, you soon discover that your greatest enemy is not the disease but subtle, slippery feelings of despair, the thief of peace. And so you rely on God's daily Delivery Service to get you through that one day. And then the next. And the next. When Dan , an enthusiastic believer in Christ, lost his battle with cancer, the following piece was distributed at his memorial service. Cancer is limited... It cannot cripple love, It cannot corrode faith, It cannot eat away peace, It cannot destroy confidence, It cannot kill friendship, It cannot shut out memories, It cannot silence courage, It cannot invade the soul, It cannot reduce eternal life, It cannot quench the Spirit, It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection. You may ultimately be healed. You may not. Whichever God sovereignly wills will be your lot. It's part of life's puzzle. You cannot deny that you have the disease, but you CAN deny despair from taking control. Wherever you are, whatever your circumstances, call for God's Daily Delivery of wisdom, strength and grace. Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle Caregiver to Glenn

Guest guest
Thank you for sending this, Donelle. I think I read a little part of this, so it is good to have the whole thing. I'm going to read it several times until it sinks in. Prayers for everyone. ~Deb from Kansas Grandmommyandme@... wrote: An excerpt from the book " The Finishing Touch " by Swindoll.
