Guest guest
I had a hysterectomy in 1992 and presumed that I would never again need a smear test, as my cervix had been removed. However this year I have been pressurised by my GP practice to have a test, and I was most puzzled, as I wondered what on earth they would find to smear! As Dov's Dad is a GP (not mine) I asked him for a second opinion and he was also very puzzled. I queried it with my GP practice, but they replied that as I had had some positive smear results in 1991 (which turned out benign thank God) they wanted to check me with what was called a " vault smear " of my vagina. Dov's Dad still puzzled, he suggested I ask my original gynae, the one who did the hysterectomy. I have just had his response; he thinks it's a good idea for me to have a vault smear. Oh well! It's tomorrow, 9 am. So I ain't exempt after all! Ruthie
