Guest guest
I am also fairly new here. My cancer had perforated the wall also but negative lymph nodes. I have had chemo and radiation before 1st surgery, had 6 weeks of chemo after, then reversal surgery and now on my last chemo treatment tomorrow (6 more weeks). I would strongly recommend the oncologist also. I want to be here for my dear husband for many more years (He is the greatest supporter). I have followed all treatments as planned. I am keeping you all in my thoughts. Sandy > > > > > > Hello everyone, I am new at this but I am hoping > > to benefit from your > > > experience. Guest guest
Was your surgeon a specialist in colorectal surgery? My surgeon was a specialist in that the only surgery he performs is colon and rectal surgery. He suggested the 5FU and Leucovoron (pump-mine was 24 hrs 7 days a week-for 7 weeks)before surgery and 12 weekly treatments after surgery. Neither he nor my oncologist suggested a risk of colon perforation. It may be from the other Oxaliplatin. The treatment my colorectal surgeon suggested is fairly new but has been approved for 4 years. The statistics for survival with this treatment was very good. The decision to try this clinical trial should include thought and if I were you maybe check into this treatment with other doctors as well. But I was never told of this risk but I did not take the Oxaliplatin. Hope you find your answers.
