When I started milk free everything was fine for awhile then back to the beginning. I started writing everything down and checking labels. 1) bread was wheat free but not gluten free and the cookies we also not gluten free. Write down what he's eating and maybe BJ and I can help you find the culprit. Also remember that he might be sensative to stickers, lotion, or soap! Well, autism is frequently co-morbid with OCD and Tourette's, both of which might be possibilities for theses kinds of behaviors. Tourette's is rarely diagnosed in very young kids, I believe, and I don't think Enrique had many Tourette's qualities until he was about five or six. Even then it was only looking back that we could see the signs of Tourette's. This could also be an OCD kind of thing....just keep your eye on it, and talk to a doctor, if you know of one, who knows something about autism, Tourette's and OCD. > > He's also sick again. I have been very > careful not to breech his diet, so I don't know. I have no idea here, but I know how easy it is to think something is working. Problem is that our kids naturally improve and grow better (or at least different) so it can be very hard to tell whether your dietary change is having the effect you hope for. SO many variables, as you note with the illness/allergies or whatever he is feeling. The diet IS healthy though so I would proceed with it for several more months, break the diet with one of the foods and see what happens. Putter had been gluten free for several months when he found a regular waffle and toasted it himself. No reaction at all. I quit the diet pretty soon after that. He had tested as having no reaction to gluten anyway so I was skeptical from the first. But it is a healthy diet and there is no harm in trying it. Guest guest
Is Zach taking any meds that would cause him to " twitch " ? Hope it goes away. Don't know what to say about the diet other than it should be done completely and consistently for six months before giving up. A very minimum would be three months. Good luck!! Guest guest
Could shoulder shrugging be a stim or something? Dillon does stuff like this a lot. It makes me think of Boone's -- no other way to describe it -- whole body movements. Something along the line of tourette's maybe? As for the diet, I saw some improvements for a while too, but I wonder if it wasn't just normal improvement that would have occurred anyway or improvement because I was expecting improvement? I really don't know. Sissi
