Guest guest
Since my diagnosis of IPF, I have been taking NAC. It is the only medication I am taking for this disease (outside of occassional mucinex when the phlegm really gets out of hand). Shortly after starting, while researching, I discovered there was a time release form available. Verbage from the manufacturer indicated the standard NAC is only active in the body for about an hour or so whereas the time release is active 3-4 hours. As a result, I take my 600 mg tablet every 6 hours or 4 times daily. This way I am getting treatment 12-16 hours a day rather than the 4. This has served to reduce my coughing (and phlegm production) significantly. The product I use is Jarrow Formulas, N-A-C Sustain, 600 mg and is distributed through i Herb co. Guest guest
Mike - Thanks for the information. My experience with medicines is that I respond better to lower doses more often, or if possible, time release medications. Well worth looking into. Appreciate the heads up.
