Guest guest
Hi All Someone recently question kelp. I just came across this interesting article finding high amounts of Arsenic in 8 out of 9 kelp supplements tested My arsenic level is also high (eventhough I take no kelp and hardly ever have) Anyone else with high arsenic levels and taking kelp supplements? kai Arsenic in kelp may be even worse than perchlorate. http://www.nutraingredients-usa.com/Research/Study-reports-arsenic-in-kelp-suppl\ ements 06-Apr-2007 - University of California researchers analyzed nine over-the-counter herbal kelp supplements and reported finding higher than acceptable arsenic levels in eight of them. Guest guest
Thanks for this information. My Doctors Data hair test shows arsenic of 0.072 mcg/g (yellow zone), but since the essential elements are deranged, I don't know if the toxic data is accurate. I have some symptoms described for combined arsenic and mercury toxicity. I've been taking Swanson kelp 225 mcg/day. I guess I'll stop. Do you know if seaweed itslef would have the same contaminiation problem? Guest guest
Thanks for looking into this .. My arsenic levels are/were high and I have been hoping that the dulse I eat is okay.. I buy from Maine Coast Vegetables. I just did a goolge of their website.. They do test all of there products for several things including heavy metals..which is marvellous. http://www.seaveg.com/faq6.php At the end of this article they go into explaining the differences and consumption of organic and inorganic arsenic and do suggest that the amount eaten in regular consumption of their dulse , which does contain arsenic, will not have any bad affects... This would be a good thing to clarify as I am eating it mostly because I think it has good health affects.!!! Nanci

The arsenic in my well water is below the EPA safe limit, but it showed up sky-high on my hair test, telling me that I'm accumulating what little I'm taking in. And of course they are going to give you the sales pitch that it is just fine and won't harm you.
