Guest guest
Jan I think this is a wonderful idea. Blue is a heavenly color.Might I say for all the newbies who haven't spoken with or don't know Leanne.. She is one of the most AWESOME people youwill ever meet. Can you imagine, working for PF Foundation, talking to patients and broken hearted family members DAILYthen to BE A PATIENT HERSELF.. She is the most giving person I have ever met. She started this board and was on full time when I starteda month or so after and we have lost a little spice because this rotten monster of a disease keeps her busy.. i MISS her. Leanne, I love YOU. (((((((((((((((^^)))))))))))))) Love and Prayers, Peggy IPF 2004, FloridaWorry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. Leanne S. and I have talked off and on about raising awareness in various ways and some of us in Texas wanted to see, if the rest of the country wanted to join in on wearing Blue T-shirts on Fridays? With all the other better known disease groups using pink and red and every other color, we settled on Blue because of the color our lungs become without oxygen. If enough people are interested we can even design our own shirt or just keep it simple and put a "slogan" on it...like 'Pulmonary Fibrosis...it takes your breath away'. We are totally open and would like your suggestions on this grass roots project....I think it is something everyone can do, and sooner or later, when people start noticing others in Blue T-Shirts they will start asking us what is PF? When we see a pink ribbon on a shirt we just know it is for Breast Cancer Awareness....if we all band together we can make Blue for PF as well known too:) We would love to hear your thoughts...What do you think?! {Leanne, thank you for your support and permission in sharing this idea with everyone online! Between the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Chicago, the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis in California and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Association in Texas, we can all make a difference in helping to raise awareness of a disease that no one still hears about. Guest guest
Jan, I also think this is a terrific idea and it's something most everyone could start doing immediately. Who doesn't have some kind of blue shirt in their wardrobe? When we get printed t-shirts we can wear them but we can also start where we are and tomorrow I will wear a blue t-shirt and get started! Guest guest
Love the idea of blue and love the slogan, can we use the acorn too? You can sign me up for a bunch of those shirts, I would sell them at the senior citizens center and even the grocery store and send the proceeds to either the Chicago Foundation or one of the many pulmonary centers (my favorites are the Mayo Clinic and National Jewish, but then we all have our preferences). It needs to be brought to the forefront. I have already sent letters to the Utah delegates reviewing the current pulmonary bill in committee. I think this is a GREAT idea. I would definately buy shirts if you do this. Last summer I bought 30 of the white bracelets from Pulmonary Fibrosis and sold them at work, and to friends and family. I still wear my bracelet, never take it off. My daughter and one of my sons also wear theirs everyday. I will start wearing blue shirts on Friday. Hope this works out.
