Guest guest
Hi all, I am a bit worried about my son's kicking. It is his right leg that is kicking all the time. We go to my son's football practice and he will kick and kick the dirt/plants/etc. the whole time. At home he kicks things around the floor. It all started after DMSA a couple months ago. It was real bad at first, more like stomping - big time peripheral neuropathy I think. Our last round was last weekend and we did a really low dose of ALA (like 6mg) and there were pretty much no changes. I think he has been having hypoglycemia on ALA rounds because he gets really cranky/moody about 2 hours after a dose and I believe it is specifically when he hasn't eaten in awhile. We had so much good happen from the little DMSA we used but 1. he will not even tolerate the teeniest dose anymore (5mg) and 2. the neuropathy symptoms from it have not gone away since the first round! What to do? Just keep on truckin with ALA? Inositol helped with his OCD related to obsessive rolling the dishwasher drawer back and forth, do you think it would help the kicking too? I am not sure if that it is the same thing.
Guest guest
Kicking makes me think of restless leg syndrome. Which seems to happen most at night.. I might have some references to restless legs and will forward on if I still have them. Nanci If the cranky happens quite regularly maybe you need to give him the dose in a shorter time period. I know when I used to first start my rounds , the first three to six hours of DMSA were doseys so I would take it a bit earlier than the 4 hours and take it instead at 3 hours.... and that helped. Guest guest
It may be that the doses of chelators are too high for him. On Moria's web page the dose range given is 1/8 to 1/2 mg/lb, always starting at the low end of the dose range, but that is just a guideline. Some people need to start with doses that are much lower. Consider using lower doses. The parents in the autism mercury group may be able to give some helpful suggestions. There is also a supplement file in the files section of autism mercury that is very good, and would help you to ensure that he is getting good supplement support.
