Guest guest
My mind is racing. Went for my appt. with my pulmonary fibrosis doctor. I did the usual that he always has me do first. Went that morning for my 3rd catscan in 9 months. Then right afterward went and had my breathing test. Then took results over to my doctor. He comes out to the waiting room and asks for the breathing test results and then instead of having me come back into his office as he always does, he tells me he made me an appt. for next Thursday. And I said, "Wait a minute, aren't you going to show me the results of the catscan?" which he always shows me the progression of the catscan on his computer. He always cuts the screen in half and shows me my catscan from 3 months ago and compares it to the catscan I had today. He answers, "I looked at your catscan you had this morning but I have to confer with the radiologist" so come back next week for the results. He's never done that before, he always just shows me the results immediately without having to confer with a radiologist. I go home thinking, Oh my God, my lungs have gotten much worse, then I start thinking, they must have found lung cancer (as I have 3 nodules on my lungs that have been there for 5 years but they haven't grown). So now I have to wait 6 more days to see him and to see the catscan. The first catscan I had a year ago, he showed me the results on his computer. He explained that the little black dots that look like a bunch of grapes is the fibrosis. Then the next catscan I had showed more of the grapes spread out from the edges to the middle parts of my lungs. Anyway, it's going to be a long 6 more days to get the results. For those who pray, I sure would appreciate a bunch of them. Guest guest
Ginny One thing that often angers me is a wait like that. They have something to discuss, need to confur. But they make you wait six days for their 15 minutes of consultation. They just don't give proper respect to what that means to you. I suspect something in the report is inconsistent with the previous, not necessarily better or worse, just doesn't tie in. Sometimes approaches and instructions are different. For instance, I have a CT report from last week and the CT's would be the same with no mention of my swollen lymph nodes. The doctor explained the way they ran the slices they weren't looking for that. This one was done at a different place and reads very different from my previous 16. Sometimes even a change in radiologist might lead to differences. And I said, " Wait a minute, aren't you going to show me the results of the catscan? Guest guest
Hi Dyane, you've got me laughing my head off in regards to the Xanax ! ! ! I probably would of taken one if I had any lol. But I'm a member of AA and sober 38 years without a drink or drug, and mind-alterating drugs are a no-no according to the old-timers. Hey, wait a minute, with 38 years of sobriety I'm an "old-timer" lol. I know that there are some who take drugs for depression, surgery, etc. so I'm not against it for them. It's just that when I sobered up in AA in 1970, drugs were totally out of the question for any reason, so it's drilled into my head that for me, it's a no go. (DARN IT- lol) Dyane, thank you so much for replying to my message. Guest guest
Hi Ginny,Depending on where you went for your tests, you may be able to obtain a written report from them before having to wait 6 days.  I always request a copy and can usually pick it up 2 days following any test.  Call the facility where you had the test and ask.  Good luck.Roxanne, 59, South Carolina 2006 Asthma/ PF 2008 PF/ Sarcoidosis/Gerd Lady Slipper OrchidSubject: Re: I'M WORRIED AFTER LAST APPT. Guest guest
Thank you Bruce for sharing. This last CT I had last week (which I'll get the results in 2 more days) they did not do any slices. I had asked the radiologist about it and he just said, "your doctor did not order that". My question to you is, aren't they always suppose to do slices in one's catscan? Sometimes even a change inradiologist might lead to differences.>> My mind is racing. Went for my appt. with my pulmonary fibrosisdoctor. I did the usual that he always has me do first. Wentthat morning for my 3rd catscan in 9 months. Then right afterwardwent and had my breathing test. Then took results over to mydoctor.  He comes out to the waiting room and asks for thebreathing test results and then instead of having me come back intohis office as he always does, he tells me he made me an appt. for nextThursday. And I said, "Wait a minute, aren't you going to show methe results of the catscan?" which he always shows me theprogression of the catscan on his computer. He always cuts thescreen in half and shows me my catscan from 3 months ago and compares itto the catscan I had today. He answers, "I looked at your catscanyou had this morning but I have to confer with the radiologist" so comeback next week for the results. He's never done that before, healways just shows me the results> immediately without having to confer with a radiologist. I gohome thinking, Oh my God, my lungs have gotten much worse, then Istart thinking, they must have found lung cancer (as I have 3 nodules onmy lungs that have been there for 5 years but they haven't grown). So now I have to wait 6 more days to see him and to see the catscan.ÂThe first catscan I had a year ago, he showed me the results on hiscomputer. He explained that the little black dots that look like abunch of grapes is the fibrosis. Then the next catscan I had showedmore of the grapes spread out from the edges to the middle parts ofmy lungs. Anyway, it's going to be a long 6 more days to get theresults. For those who pray, I sure would appreciate a bunch ofthem. God bless you all, Ginny> Ginny, IPF6-08,COPD5- 98,Richmond, VA>>>>> ____________ _________ _________ __> To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. com> Sent: Sunday, August 2, 2009 1:09:54 PM> Subject: Re: FW: Please read and return to me---Ineed this>> Â> > Thanks for this MMan...> We are packing and sitting, packing and sitting. W/PULMONARY DOCTOR Hi Ginny, Depending on where you went for your tests, you may be able to obtain a written report from them before having to wait 6 days. I always request a copy and can usually pick it up 2 days following any test. Call the facility where you had the test and ask. Guest guest
Ginny There are CT's and HRCT's-High Resolution CT's. Then there are specific orders on the HRCT's. It is preferable to have HRCT's with slices and various views. That's another benefit of having them at IPF centers. So far the only two places I've had done to the extreme with even doing it with me face down are U of Chicago and UTSW. Now, the reality in my case is I've had the biopsy, i've had enough CT's for a lifetime, so the CT really serves no real purpose and the doctors all say annually now. Except a new doctor comes into play and wants one done by his facility and his way. I'm finding the same thing on echocardiograms too and certainly my UTSW echocardiogram just taken shows some things mine in February at Medical Center of Plano did not. Was it missed or is it new? I don't know. But may know more after the heart catheter and the cardiac MRI. > > > > My mind is racing. Went for my appt. with my pulmonary fibrosis > doctor. I did the usual that he always has me do first. Went > that morning for my 3rd catscan in 9 months. Then right afterward > went and had my breathing test. Then took results over to my > doctor.  He comes out to the waiting room and asks for the > breathing test results and then instead of having me come back into > his office as he always does, he tells me he made me an appt. for next > Thursday. And I said, " Wait a minute, aren't you going to show me > the results of the catscan?
