You are right in your interpretation of the hair test. It doesn't

meet the counting rules, but it does look suspicious. Not meeting the

counting rules doesn't rule out mercury toxicity (when a test does

meet the counting rules it makes mercury toxicity the most likely thing).

The counting rules don't take into account any of the metals that are

in the brain. It is always possible that there are metals in the

brain that are causing symptoms. This can be from exposure that was

long ago, from improper chelation methods, and other things. Some

people are even genetically less likely to have deranged mineral

transport, but can still be poisoned.

With a test like this, if mercury poisoning is suspected, the test

that is definitive is a trial of chelation. Side effects with a trial

of chelation indicates toxicity. It is only safe to take chelators

when all amalgam has been safely removed.

There is a little bit of indication of adrenal stress. If you look at

the picture of the test measure how many cm the Ca and Mg are above

the Na and K. (I forget the actual measurement Andy gives for this,

but it is in his Hair Test book). What is most important is the

symptoms. If you are having adrenal fatigue symptoms, then some sort

of measures to support the adrenals would be beneficial.

You haven't mentioned history and symptoms. A review of history and

symptoms gives a good idea of how likely mercury poisoning is.

Thanks J!

I just saw your response. ( I sent the results to AMC with a plea for help

just a bit ago, before I saw your email. :)

One thing I looked up through onibasu searches was that in

http://onibasu.com/archives/am/136021.html it says that " low manganese and

low cobalt... this is very peculiar, and quite typical of mercury poisoned

people, " written by Matteo. Would you agree?

You mentioned adrenal fatigue symptoms. As for the distance between the

ends of the Ca/Mg and Na/K bars, the range is 3.7-4.7cm, depending on

whether you measure the shorter distance or the longer one. I'm not sure

exactly what to look for in terms of symptoms, but I can summarize what I've

been going through. These symptoms started suddenly in the spring of 2005

(I've seen many doctors) and have been noticeable every day since...

My symptoms are lightheadedness, tingling in extremities (especially lips),

and " thirst " . (I don't believe it's really thirst. It is always strongest

first thing in the morning.) I've noticed at times some tightness in my

chest. In the past I've had ringing in my ears and tightness in my calves.

I feel " not as bad " when I eat a non-processed food diet. I can't be

certain, as I haven't had much time on the non-thiol " non-sulfur " diet, but

I think that diet helps even more. When I come off of the " non-sulfur " diet

the tingling in my lips and lightheadedness increase. I have a very

difficult time getting to sleep at night and waking early in the morning, so

my whole schedule is shifted later in the day. The latest thing I've

noticed is an apparent change in symptoms when I change the amount of zinc I

take. It appears that I feel better when I take more zinc. I've found that

when I reduce my zinc intake my lips tingle a lot more and the corners of my

lips become sore. Taking more zinc reduced these symptoms.

My doctor has had neurotransmitters tested via saliva and urine. The

results say they come from NeuroScience, with the lab being Pharmasan.

DHEA-saliva 415.8 pg/ml (optimal range 250-450)

Cortisol-saliva 4.9 ng/ml (sampled at 10:15am)

2.1 ng/ml (sampled at 12:40pm)

1.8 ng/ml (sampled at 5:45pm)

0.8 ng/ml (sampled at 11:59pm)

Epinephrine-urine 9.3 ug/gCr (optimal range 8-12)

Norepinephrine-urine 36.0 ug/gCr (optimal range 35-50)

Dopamine-urine 293.2 ug/gCr (optimal range 110-175)

Serotonin-urine 91.8 ug/gCr (optimal range 150-200)

GABA-urine 1.5 umol/gCr (optimal range 1.5-4.0)

Glutamine-urine 25.1 umol/gCr (optimal range 10-35)

PEA-urine 264.0 nmol/gCr (optimal range 175-450)

Histamine-urine 19.8 ug/gCr (optimal range 10-20)

Creatinine-urine 304.5 mg/dL (urine sample for all at 12:30pm)

The " u " above is for micro as in micrograms (ug).

For the last ten days I have been taking two NeuroScience products, AdreCor

in the morning, and TravaCor at night. Besides supplements which I'm

already taking (see below), these products are made up of...

1) AdreCor has L-methionine, L-histidine, N-acetyltyrosine, Rhodiola rosea

root extract, Green tea leaf extract, and

2) TravaCor has Taurine, 5-hydroxytryptophan, L-theanine.

One change I have noticed is that I'm able to wake up when the alarm goes

off in the morning now.

The supplements I'm taking daily are...

Vitamin C, 1000mg

Fish oil, 1200mg

Food carotene, 10000 IU vitamin A activity

Zinc monomethionine, 60mg of zinc

Vitamin B50mg, twice a day

Selenium methionine, 200ug of selenium

Vitamin D, 2000 IU (calcium, 24mg)

Milk thistle, 200mg

Magnesium citrate, 400mg of magnesium

Vitamin E, 800 IU as d-alpha tocopherol

Molybdenum glycinate, 1000 ug of molybdenum

Vitamin B6 as pyridoxine, 200mg

Vitamin B12, 4000ug sublingual

These are split into two doses, except the carotene which is once a day.

In order to test the chelation I will have to have the amalgam in my mouth

removed. If my test results and symptoms suggest mercury toxicity is

" somewhat " likely then I think I will go through with having the amalgam

removed. I can schedule this either for November and January or for January

and March. (The cost will be a bit lower for me in 2009 using a flexible

savings account.) If you think mercury toxicity is somewhat likely would

you suggest any other steps I should take for the rest of 2008, or would you

suggest starting the amalgam removal now? Could some additional supplements

be considered a reasonable test? What would you recommend?

Thanks so much!!
