Guest guest
That's the verdict from my bone mineral density DXA scan this morning. Given my family history of osteoporosis coupled with my prolonged use of prednisone and high doses it's a relief to know that at least so far, my bones are in good shape.....now if we could only do something about my lungs! Guest guest
Beth So glad to see that verdict. To all prednisone users, yes it has side effects. So, please...do what you can to minimize them. That includes meds for your bones, that includes a diabetic type diet, that includes mental health counseling for the mood swings and perhaps meds there too. Just as we learn to live with PF, there are ways of doing our best to live with Prednisone if we're on it. > > That's the verdict from my bone mineral density DXA scan this morning. Guest guest
Yesterday I had to call the people who supply my diabetes supplies. They told me that they couldn't get a prescription because my doctor's nurse told them I don't have diabetes. I just saw the doctor and showed her my meter and she put me on 2 Metformin a day instead of one. I called and she was suppose to call me back. I waited all day yesterday and she didn't. I would love it if I didn't have it and didn't have to stick myself everyday but I do have it.I did get a call from the pulmonary clinic yesterday. They put me on Imuran and I was told they would call me when they could get me in to see the new doctor. I hope they don't take forever.Beverley Joy,71, UIP,NSIP 1-09,Diabetes,Sjogren's,Fibromyalgia IdahoSubject: Re: Healthy bonesTo: Breathe-Support Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 9:29 AM Beth So glad to see that verdict. Guest guest
Bruce and Beth, Bruce, ou are so right. Everything is so interconnected when it comes to health and PF. And I will have to start paying more attention to my risk for Pulmonary Hypertension tooo. I try to eat right and exercise, but I will start paying more attention to the echocardiogram report next time. Thanks for pointing that out also. Beth, Well at least our bones are worth something. Good news! Jerry/Mississippi/54/IPF/dx b5Who believes that hard times help us appreciate the good times even more.
