Guest guest
Teddyspenguins, Dorothy - I was born in Jamaica Hospital and first lived in South Ozone Park when it was a Polish neighborhood. My mother remarried and we lived in Glendale from the time I was 5ish until 21. Went to local parochial school (Sacred Heart) thru 8th Grade, then to St. Barbara's which was a two-year diocesan school in Bklyn, then to Grover Cleveland HS for my final two. My family's garden apartment was off Woodhaven Blvd - across the street from Woodhaven Lanes. Once I was in my teens, I hung out in Middle Village, and Maspeth mostly. Late teens, it was the Hamptons in the Summer (I was a hanger-on with my brothers fraternity brothers who rented a huge house each year). Starting with my early twenties, I was a Manhattanite through and through. Once old enough to take off on my own, I first lived on 78th between First and York (about six months), then on 26th betw Second and Third, 24th betw Second and Third, then 26th again - still between 2nd and 3rd. My final place in NYC was on 24th between 1st and 2nd. For a couple of years during that time, I played hippie, living in California, Colorado, Florida and Michigan. Ah that was fun! Moved to Chestnut Ridge in Rockland County in 1996 - near Spring Valley, Monsey, etc. Beautiful place to live. Moved to Waynesville in the beautiful mountains of WNC in October 2001, and here it is I hope to be until the end - many, many, many years from now! ;-)
