Guest guest
Shame I missed Sacks's message. He and DH were in Cambridge Uni together, in fact he was what was known as a Ba'al Teshuvah which means a returner to the faith, ie a " born again " Jew, seeking knowledge. He and DH studied Jewish subjects together whilst in Uni, with DH as the teacher :-))) Glad you liked his message. The synagogue services are *very* long and arduous. I came home today quite dizzy and feeling weird, but am OK now. Phoned Yeshaya on his Israeli mobile tonight, and it was picked up by a South African boy who told me that my son is busy playing footie :-)) He is certainly having a blast. On the subject of my proposed NYC shopping trip, my SIL in NY put a bit of a damper on the idea by sounding really enthusiastic when I said I might be coming over later in the year...she said " OH good! Can you bring Mummy one way? " (My MIL was meant to go to her daughter in NYC for Rosh Hashanah but obviously couldn't...so my SIL is thinking of inviting her " just for a holiday " ...nicely timed with my " escape " shopping trip it seems! The idea of having to bring my lovely, but *very* doddery, elderly and deaf MIL with on such a long trip would make me reconsider the whole thing even if it *was* just one way, and I could dump her on my SIL once we got there. Am I *very* selfish to feel like that? At least part of my pleasure in a trip like that is a lovely solo flight, doing what I want to do, not worrying about a very difficult and needy old lady who keeps losing all her millions of packages and needs watching all the time. Guest guest
Ruthie - embedded somewhere in this dilemma seems to be somebody's Law which links into puritanical reasoning to prevent one enjoying planned treats, something akin to maternal guilt iyswim!! as clear as mud but I'm sure you get my drift... love Caro > The idea of having to bring my lovely, but *very* doddery, elderly and > deaf MIL with on such a long trip would make me reconsider the whole > thing even if it *was* just one way,
