WHOOO BOY, WE ARE FINALLY FINISHED PACKING AND READY TO GO ON SUNDAY.

GOSH, THIS HAS BEEN A HARD MOVE AND WE ARE ONLY HALF FINISHED. REALLY SHOWS ME WHAT I USED TO DO AND HOW QUICKLY I USED TO DO IT.

THIS PACKING ALSO SHOWS ME I DEFINITELY HAVE TAKEN IT 'EASY DOES IT'...THUS TAKING SO LONG TO FINISH. OH WELL.

I'M GLAD WE HAVE A COUPLE OF DAYS (PLANNED) BEFORE THE MOVE SO RICH AND I CAN JUST REST UP... IF EVERYONE SHOWS UP THERE WILL BE 9 TO HELP LOAD THE TRUCK AND A COUPLE OF PICKUPS.

I MISS MY AIR-FAMILY! I FEEL OUT OF TOUCH AND DISCONNECTED. YOU MAY NOT NEED TO HEAR FROM ME BUT I NEED TO POST EVEN WHEN IT'S JUST ABOUT MOVING RIGHT NOW.

DENISE....I DID CATCH YOUR POST. GOODNESS I'M CONCERNED ABOUT YOU. I HOPE YOU CAN SEE A DOC SOONER AND I KNOW THE OXYGEN WILL HELP YOU LOTS!

DO THE NEW MEDS SEEM TO HELP OR IS IT TOO SOON TO KNOW?

APOLOGIES FOR WRITING IN CAPS. IT'S EASIER ON MY HANDS...GUESS NEXT TIME I COULD MAKE THE PRINT SMALLER? NO, THAT'S TOO SMALL!

BYE FOR NOW. GOD BLESS EVERYONE.

LOVE YA.

We miss you too. Yes having done it bigtime I know the moving is tough.

Can't do what we did but we just do it at our pace. Good thing is I can

blame it all on PF and don't have to admit maybe I'm a little older too.

But I miss the love that exudes from your words. See I know the secret

behind any facade of toughness that is such a wonderful friend.

Hi Beth and Everyone else....

My name is Bob and I have been lurking since some time in Jan. I was Dx with IPF Jan 8,09. I have to thank all the regulars on this board, I learned more here than anywhere else. I guess its understandable since We are all living it! Not JUST talking about it!

The first thing all Newbies want to know is... what "stage" they are in or how long do they have? I( of course, did the same. At the first Dx Dr told me I had IPF, there is no cure and survival rate is 3 years! Needless to say, Diane (my wife) and I were devastated. Went home in a daze, never heard of pf ....and now I will die from it! Thank God for this board, I learned I may have more time , than the three years I was told.

The next time I went to see Dr. , he was not in, so....I saw his associate, Dr Lovey (just by his name I knew things were going to get better!) sure enough, he said maybe its not as dire as Dr. first said. he said we'd wait 3 Mos then get another HRCT make comparisons and see what we see. So,.....the next time I saw Dr Lovey he said,"Bob you really move air very well, you have a lot of muscle and I see no reason you can't live another 40 years! Oops...How old are you? I Said 69. He said OK then, lets say 30 yrs, no guarantee after that".....

So...........Somewhere between 3 and 30?????Both Dr's are pulomonologists....I am on 2-3 lpm of O2 walking , none sitting, 4-5 Exercising. I had 5 bypases in 01. Diane and I just booked a 14 day Mediterranean Cruise for this November.

Hi Bob, Glad your are here...several things stick out in your postIf muscle was all that was needed...Dr. Lovey may be nice but if you truly have IFP, I fear 40 years may not be attainable. You need a specialist, Bruce or Beth can give you the website and hopefully there is one near you. These guys really sound like they don't know IPF from beans. That said have a wonderful time on your cruise, tell them your o2 needs and they will work with you.I've had it 7years and I'm still kicking (and working)Dyane Phoenix IPF 02> > > Subject: Re: JUST DROPPIN' IN> To: Breathe-Support > Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009, 12:46 PM> > > > > > > > > > Sher,> I'm glad your halfway done with this. Hi Bob and welcome! I'm glad you decided to join in the conversation. It sounds like you've had some vastly differing opinions...isn't it amazing? And these are both pulmonologists in the same practise, correct? It makes you wonder if the truth is somewhere in the middle doesn't it?

At some point you might want to consider being evaluated at a university medical center with an interstitial lung disease program. That is if you haven't already. There are more than a few of them around the country. www.ipfnet.org is a good place to start. There are 22 "centers of excellence" listed there. There is much value in being evaluated in such a program. You gain tremendous information about what is going on with your lungs and the rest of your body.

It sounds like you've got a good handle on things and are doing the best you can to adjust to this illness. It's not easy but it can be done.

Have a great time on your cruise! I'm green with envy!!

So.......... .Somewhere between 3 and 30?????Both Dr's are pulomonologists....I am on 2-3 lpm of O2 walking , none sitting, 4-5 Exercising. I had 5 bypases in 01. Diane and I just booked a 14 day Mediterranean Cruise for this November.

LOVE YA.

HI BOB....I'M GLAD YOU HAVE BEEN LURKING BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT WHAT A WONDERFUL BOARD WE HAVE.

I WAS JUST LIKE YOU, BACK IN 2006 I WAS SURE I WAS GOING TO DIE IN A FEW WEEKS. NOW IT'S BEEN PAST 3 YEARS AND I'M HOLDING FAIRLY STABLE. IT'S AMAZING HOW QUICKLY WE ADJUST TO OUR DISEASE AND STOP OBSESSING ABOUT DYING. ONCE WE ACCEPT OUR DISEASE WE START LEARNING ABOUT IT AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT...HOW TO LIVE WITH IT.

I DIDN'T HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT PF IS. WENT TO THE NET WHEN I GOT HOME FROM DOC AND WHEN I READ IT WAS A FATAL DISEASE I GASPED SO LOUDLY MY HUSBAND CAME RUNNING WANTING TO KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME. I NEARLY SCREAMED OUT THAT IT'S FATAL AND I'M GOING TO DIE.

SO SO GLAD YOU ARE GOING ON A CRUISE. AT THIS POINT YOU CAN DO ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WANT TO. IF YOU NEED O2 WITH YOU ONBOARD, CARRY ON HOWEVER MANY TANKS YOU THINK YOU WILL USE. I TOOK ON A 'SIX-PACK' WITH ME. CYLINDERS STACKED LIKE BEER BOTTLES IN A 'SIX-PACK'. USED ONLY ONE! TURNED IT OFF WHEN SITTING...DON'T NEED THEN ANYWAY...AND AFTER I WALKED THE SHIP ONCE THAT WAS ALL I NEEDED. SPENT MOST OF THE TIME SITTING....EATING! LOL

GO FOR IT BOB AND WELCOME ABOARD! HI TO DIANE TOO,

Hi Mama Sher. I just finished moving from my house (sold) to an apartment (delightful) and still resting up from the ordeal, even though I hired a company to move most of the stuff to storage and the rest to the apartment.

It is smaller, less work, and no stairs. I'm on the 2d floor but there are also elevators. Huge windows, 20 feet tall, and in the middle of the city so nearly everything is reachable on foot. Hope the rest of your move goes

smoothly and you settle in quickly so we can hear your voice every day.

PS. I talked with Lou's daughter yesterday. She was holding the oximeter I sent Lou who

never had a chance to use it. I'm passing it on to an elderly lady here in Bangor who needs one. Lou and her husband are planning to sell and move to Florida, living in an RV. H-m-m, doesn't sound too bad Jack79/IPF - UIP/dx06/05 Maine

I'VE GOT THE MAIL DOWN TO A MANAGEABLE BUNCH NOW AND I LOVE SEEING ONE TO 'ME'! I'M FEELING MORE CONNECTED AND I LIKE THAT FEELING.

I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE FONT COLOR IS BLACK. I HAVE IT SET TO NAVY....HMMMM.
