Guest guest
My DS1 and DD2 were born a day apart. I always tell that his sister was his birthday present as I brought her home from hospital on her birthday. This has caused terrible jealousy over the years because although Helen is 3 years younger than my son, he has always had difficulty accepting that her birthday comes first when he is older. He used to have tantrums about this when he was younger and even at 15 he still upset by it. Her cards are always in pride of place etc. Often people give them similar presents/amounts of money so he know what he will be getting. Family members are not so generous because they have 2 to buy for. His birthday isn't special as far as he is concerned. I always do 2 birthday cakes and 2 parties but it is always an anticlimax. For this reason I have always prefered to play down birthdays and build up Christmas because I can treat all my children equally and everyone has presents at the same time. Guest guest
> My DS1 and DD2 were born a day apart My brother and sister are born 1 day apart (with 2 years in between), but I guess there was a certain 'logic' in that she the oldest was born on the 12th and he was the 13th. I know my mum used to either make sure their birthdays were very different, or have a joint one at the weekend. She also used to divide presents into who they were from, so eg both of them got to open their presents from their friends on the 12th, and then both of them opened their presents from Granny on the 13th etc. Sounds like you have found your own solution though :-) Karina
