Guest guest
Is anyone out there a minipill taker? I have had two " periods " lately (5 weeks apart) after 22 months without. Anyone like to hazard a guess why? Anneliese and Toddler Tim

So now I've dug around and can't do anything more on the newsletter until I get the file with an article that I still need to put in I've been having the same experience. My periods came back at 18 months post-partum and have been extremely erratic. 1st: light/normal 2nd: 3 weeks later, spotting for 2 days 3rd: 4 weeks later, light/normal 4th: 2 weeks later, spotting for 3 days My periods without outside hormonal control were always 34 to 35 days. Anyway, I dug out the leaflet from the box and it says under 'Special Warnings': " Your periods may become irregular while you are on this pill i.e. the length of time between periods may vary. For example, you might have a 28-day cycle followed by a 17-day cycle followed by a 35-day cycle etc. This irregularity tends to be greater during the first few months. " (and then a bit further on: " but if you have gone 45 days without a period, stop taking MICRONOR and contact your doctor so that he/she can make sure you are not pregnant. " ) I don't know which pill you use, but this one is a progestogen only one with (let me look) 350 micrograms norethisterone. So, yes, you are supposed to have periods, but no, they aren't necessarily going to be like anything you've had before. (I've also had crashing headaches each time, something I never had before) HTH, Phyllis

I had very irregular and heavy bleeding very close together. I seem to recall having no periods until about 7 months after the birth and then episodes of bleeding lasting up to 10 days and then a break of about a week followed by another episode of bleeding. I was exhausted but fortunately this was quite close to the time I gave up BF so I went back to the normal combined pill. Akiko
