Guest guest
yes Jenni it is the stuff in purple.. I found it quite easy if you just " knead " it a little with your fingers first.. kamillosan did nothing for me first time around so I never bothered with it again.. funny as my sil just loves it and says it saved her breastfeeding with both her kids.. Strange thing is I don't remember what I did with the rest of the tube either, might still be in the bottomless pit I call a bathroom cabinet - must have a look later Jenni Jenni & Gethyn Mami & Dadi to: 17yrs - 6lbs - Hospital Birth Mari 3yrs - 9lb 10oz - Home Birth Nia 13/09/01 - 10lb 8oz - Home Water Birth " If you don't know your options - you don't have any "

I was told to smear my nipples with breastmilk *before* feeds, the rationale that it would lubricate them and reduce risk of trauma. I've not heard it anywhere before or since. And I did get a cracked nipple the first time despite the world and his wife confirming the wondrousness of my positioning at every feed. My theory is that although I took him off immediately and in approved fashion if the latch wasn't right, he had a very powerful suck and that brief time was enough. DS2 didn't have anything like the sucking power. Only figured this out when LLL leader meeting us for the first time (DS1 about 7 months) said " I bet he's a strong sucker " I do wonder about this business of " all pain is due to faulty positioning " since we know (well, I certainly do!) that feeding at times of ovulation and pregnancy can make your nipples sore.
