Guest guest
Hi All Well ... my intuitive birth date was the 13th .... and .... Nia Gwennan entered the World at 1.49am on the 13th after a fast and furious labour of around 1hr 45mins!! A wonderful, wonderful water birth - if slightly alarming because of the speed in which it happened. Her head was born in the water but slight shoulder dystocia meant I had to stand up to allow her shoulders to be born. Sadly problems with the placenta once again, managed to get it out in the house but major PPH followed Transferred to a different Hospital to last time - amazingly in contrast to my last experience - the staff were wonderful and Annie (Ind.MW) stayed with us for many hours until the blood transfusions were finished and my obs. were stable. I agreed to stay one night in hospital and Gethyn was made welcome too We cannot fault the care that I received from all the staff, MWs, SHOs, Registrars, Anaesthetists, Paediatricians ... most particularly one Midwife who helped make the whole thing a healing experience for us Didn't weigh Nia until hours after she was born and we were convinced she was smaller than Mari who weighed 9lb10oz, we thought Nia looked around 9lb, the Paramedics guessed her to be around 8.5lbs ... she weighs 10lb8oz and every cm of it beautiful ... and no tears or grazes ... I part breathed part pushed her out with the support of my wonderful MW. She just looks so much smaller than Mari did, seems she's long (56cm) whilst Mari was wide and her head is 36cm which is a cm smaller than Mari's was. She is very blonde which is a surprise as Mari was dark (but was blonde) and a placid little soul, only feeding every 5-7 hours! They told me at the Hospital that I probably wont feel totally well for at least 6mths and right now I'm extremely tired but very content Oedema is disappearing fast - I lost 2.5 stone in 4 days following babi's birth, DSP is still bad but improving daily. My soul isn't scarred this time and I can finally file away the trauma of my previous birth experiences Love from babi-dom Jenni xxx Annie on: Independent Midwife robertsonatcwm@...
