Guest guest
Okay, I sent a post through a couple of hours ago; since it is apparently not going to get to the list anytime soon...so here goes a second version (slightly different because I have no idea how to save copies of my notes on yahoo mail): Mark thinks you should sue this guy/gal...he works as an instructional systems designer for the distance learning dept at OU, and they have to jump through all kinds of hoops to make sure that ANYTHING they use from the internet is well documented as to the source, and that they have written permission to use it before " publishing " it on their websites. Taking a person's identity in this way...esp using his NAME, fer cryin' out loud...is illegal. Have you contacted a lawyer who specializes in copyright law (I'm assuming you know some, given your line of work)? Maybe one of them would write a carefully worded letter outlining the parallels between Boone's life and this " fictional " character...could make them stop and think? Guest guest
Hi Raena, I talked to a couple of lawyers who know little to nothing about this, but I'm talking to my newspaper's lawyer tomorrow and he may know a little more about this kind of thing. My friend Jay, who is an extra cautious attorney, is as always, extra cautious. Anyway, Ralph doesn't know I'm talking to him about it yet, but he'll find out. We meet every informally every Wednesday afternoon at a bar frequented by mysterious celebrity types such as ourselves. (LOL) Sissi Sissi---about Boone (second attempt) > Okay, I sent a post through a couple of hours ago; since it is > apparently not going to get to the list anytime soon...so here goes a > second version (slightly different because I have no idea how to save > copies of my notes on yahoo mail): > > Mark thinks you should sue this guy/gal...he works as an > instructional systems designer for the distance learning dept at OU, > and they have to jump through all kinds of hoops to make sure that > ANYTHING they use from the internet is well documented as to the > source, and that they have written permission to use it > before " publishing " it on their websites.
