Guest guest
From another parenting list--thought it might help some of you: Here's Help: A national " I.E.P. Pop Up " chart lists 16 situations that parents can encounter in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings . The I.E.P. Pop Up tool coaches families on how to respond to challenges that may arise in the meetings. This tool is provided by the National Center on Low-Incidence Disabilities at http://www.nclid.unco.edu/HVoriginals/Advocacy/Popup/popup.html. Sample situations include: " Sorry.we don't have the money " ; " You must be in denial, your expectations are too high for your child " ; and " We don't need to write that suggestion down in the IEP, we'll do the best we can to get that done. " (Please note that many of the situations and answers are geared toward children who are deaf, but the information can be adapted to other disabilities.)
