It sounds wonderful and I am going to suggest it to my SIL (due in 3 weeks)

as she wishes to have a non religious naming ceremony next year.

When I had my 1st baby my sister gave me a baby book with envelopes for

keeping mementoes for the first 5 years including birthday cards. So I

started then and am still going. Each of the children have a large cardboard

box in the loft that we add cards to, special pictures from school, pottery

ornaments that they have made, xmas decorations we have slaved over, school

books are added now they are older (I have some of mine and i love looking

back at them), newspapers they are mentioned in, certificates, school reports

etc etc. I think they are lovely to rummage back through and see how they

have changed. I promised them once that I will give them each their box when

they are 21 but i may keep them and make them come to me to look through them

:-)))

DH says it's a good job we stopped at 5 as we will have no room in the loft

soon :-))
