Guest guest
Peggy, Try not to dwell on your inability to do the PFT's anymore....Drop that rock lady! Who needs it anyhow? It's a miserable test and you no longer have to even think about it. Think about your friends and family and how much you are loved. God is faithful girlfriend and He is with you. Love you lots! Guest guest
I have a PFT tomorrow and another 6-min walk! Last week at my UWMC eval they had me do a 6-min walk test and placed an order for oxygen with my Group Health pulmo doc. He told me today that GH won't pay for the oxygen unless the test is done in their clinic. ugh! I already have a PFT test scheduled for tomorrow in his clinic, so I said how 'bout we do it tomorrow when I'm already there. His clinic is an 80 mile drive for me, so I figure the more appts I can combine when I go the better. But I know I will be suffering when I get home. I think at some point too the discomfort and setback for a few days just exceeds the value. I'm sure the doctors and techs will say they understand as they've probably done them themselves. Just one huge difference. They haven't done them in our condition. When I feel they are more than I want to go through, I will definitely draw the line. Each test, each procedure, each med, each treatment is a place each of us has to place our own boundaries. They may not be right for others. If you're going to put me through it at this point, then tell me what you hope to gain to make it worthwhile. I ran into a very good recent example where actually it was the doctor showing a conservative approach versus the nurse. After 's mothers open heart surgery she was doing very poorly at first. The nurse in ICU was pumping us full of her opinion a CT needed to be done to make sure she didn't have a stroke during the procedure. The doctor first felt strongly she didn't but more importantly didn't want to subject her already suffering body to the added trauma involved in giving her a CT. Furthermore, and this is a greater point, it wasn't going to lead to anything additional to be done at that time, even if she had suffered one. Getting her to breathe on her own was the priority. Now she is and we know there was no stroke. Who knows what seems like very little in transporting her and moving her and administering a CT might have done. That might have been just the thing to tax her systems further than they could stand. > > > > Eddie & I just made our reservations for the Chattanooga get-together October 30th weekend. Guest guest
And I thought I was the only one who hated PFT. My last ones were not bad as I was in pretty good shape, but even then, they are difficult and pput on quite a strain.
