Guest guest
Oh Kirsten, I'm really sorry to hear you lost your pregnancy. It is devastating, even when it's such an early stage, and I hope you're not too knocked back. Be careful with yourself As for the chances of losing a pregnancy, I have read that about 1 in 4 are lost in the very early stages, but mostly the women don't yet realise that they are pregnant, and simply believe they're having a heavy period. I know that I've lost 2 pregnancies very early - though I did know I was pregnant on those occasions, so it would about figure. But equally, I have bled in the early stages of both my last two babies: with Josh I bled monthly for the first three months, which was truly nerve-wracking. With Freya, I miscarried at nine weeks - it was definitely a miscarriage, large heamorrhage with clotting which was tested - but when I was scanned the following day, there was Freya so it seems I lost her twin, which I thought was miraculous, but Winston reckons it happens in about 1 in 6 twin pregnancies (which would mean an awful lot more of us are twins than we ever realised...) I'm not saying rush upstairs and do another test - don't dash your hopes again! What I am saying, though, is don't be too frightened of losing a baby to try again - the parameters of 'normal' are very wide and include some scope for blood loss. It is relatively common, apparently, for women to have 'attachment bleeding' where, as I understand it, the foetus dislodges some uterine material as it buries into the womb lining. Don't be too frightened to try again, but equally don't feel that you have to rush into it, before you've recovered from this shock. I'm sending you big (((hugs))) Vicki Portman http://www.plushpants.co.uk > Can anyone tell me what the chances are of loosing a pregnancy in the > first month or so. I agree with all that Vicki says and hugs from me <<<hugs>>>> I know what it is like to go through this - I posted everyday that I was going through it last year (March - before the archives started). I have also had 2 other m/cs. I really think if it happened this early that you are bound to be fine next time you try - if it is any encouragement then I am now successfully pregnant (God willing of course) at 25 weeks, despite having the other losses (and without any extra help). I am on a really good support group called 'pregafterloss' on Yahoogroups - which you can join via www.angels4ever.com. They are such a lovely bunch of ladies and have of course all been through the same experience. Do feel free to contact me off list as well. Oh you poor thing, the chances are quite high of loosing a pregnancy early on but I can't remember what they are but 1 in 4 comes to mind, but in the first month or so I could imagine that it could be even higher. Give yourself time to recover. Just a practical point if you are R- you still should ask for an anti- D injection.
