I am going to order the hair test. A year ago, I had a " Urine Toxic Metals " test from Doctor's Data and it indicated a very elevated mercury level. This is common with people with Lyme Disease. This test uses DMSA as a provoking agent. Hi Mark. As it turns out, this is not a very informative test, since everyone excretes metals, challenged or unchallenged. We have constant questions on this. If you want, you can read Andy's post here: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/117453.html I'll also point out that if this was provoked with a one-time large dose of DMSA, then this is a dangerous thing to do! It picks up a lot of metal and then drops it somewhere else in your body, thereby creating new symptoms, and it's a crap-shoot since those symptoms can be serious - partial paralysis is possible and has been reported here more times than I'd like to count. > Are urine tests useful? Do you think it is ok to start the protocol prior to a hair test? I would start with very small amounts of DMSA. Probably around 7 mgs for 3 days on 4 days off. Does this make sense? You could do that as long as you are absolutely sure that there are _no amalgams_ in your mouth _even under crowns/bridges_. That is very important, otherwise you will just pick up more mercury and deposit it in your body/nervous system. >Thanks, Mark Sure, good luck! Dave. Guest guest
Hi Dave, If you don't mind, I have a few more questions? 1) I read Cutler's book and all of his treatment examples use a much higher starting dose of DMSA or DMPS. It seems most people on this forum start at much lower doses. Why is that the case? 2) Why do the symptoms get worse during the days off? Is it because the DMSA stirs up mercury and does not bind with all of it? 3) I have a lot of neurological problems such as sleep, mood, balance, slowed movement, and slow loss of muscle mass over the last five years. I always attributed these symptoms to Lyme. Are these common mercury issues? 4) If you had a choice of starting with DMPS or DMSA, which one would you use? Thanks, Mark > > >Posted by: " mhj6119 " mhj6119@... mhj6119 > Sat Jul 5, 2008 4:03 pm (PDT) > > >Hi Dave, > > >Thank you for the information. I am going to order the hair test. My opinion has evolved since writing Amalgam Illness (and is more accurately reflected in the more current 'how to chelate' section of Hair Test Interpretation) where I find that most of the problems can be avoided by starting lower, and little benefit is lost. > 2) Why do the symptoms get worse during the days off? It isn't completely clear why. > 3) I have a lot of neurological problems such as sleep, mood, > balance, slowed movement, and slow loss of muscle mass over the last > five years.
