Guest guest
Today was a branch family day to Frinton (the seaside about 1hr20mins drive). I knew last night that it was only us and one other family planning to go. It started off good - the weather was fine, then turned bad when the only other family had a sick child so had decided not to go. We ummed and ahhed, but decided to go on our own anyway. We arrived at mid-day at high tide (which we knew), had a look at the sea then a picnic up by the car overlooking the sea. DS, most unusually, didn't want much. He ate the white of a hard boiled egg and that was about it. he ran about while we eat and did a few breadsticks, a few pieces of ham and a cake. We then spent a couple of hours on the beach - mummy mostly reading her magazine, DH and DS doing boy things - getting wet, digging holes etc. So far, a good day. DS suddenly decided he wanted to go home and ran off up towards the car. We followed in hot pursuit scrambling to collect all our belongings on the way. Back at the car, we got DS changed and he asked to be sat in the car (most unusual - usually have to catch him and drag him to the car). I strapped him in and had just stuck my head in the boot (we've got an estate) when I heard what sounded like a bucket of water being emptied. Since I had the bucket in my hand, I was puzzled only to find DS had thrown up everywhere. Poor little thing was covered, his car seat was full up when I took him out and more yucky when I took his seat out, the back seat of the car had a large pool of sick too. It just got worse, sitting him on a towel in his soaking wet car seat, we got 2mins around the corner and he did it again. Then twice more on the way home (tho' he did sleep on and off) and about 5 times since we got home (including in the bath -which he really didn't want, but what with the sea, sand, suncream and sick he just *had* to have a bath tonight). He hasn't eaten anything and other than a few sips of water, won't drink either. He virtually begged to go to bed (about an hour earlier than normal) and has been sick once in bed too (thankfully he managed to get most of it in the bowl I'd left beside him). Now he's fast asleep and I'm going to try to get an early night, in case it's a long one.
