Guest guest
Bruce, I'm in the process of writing something up and Leanne will post it on the Caregivers Board. This get together however will be different from the ones that the Caregivers side usually plans. The focus on this will be relaxation and enjoying each others company! Guest guest
Beth I realize fun fun fun is the word. There are still some patients though who don't participate here but do know some of us, either directly or through their spouses. Those less active here may be the ones actually to benefit more. Also, one thing I know I'm going to do while there is cruise the Tennessee River. If a group want to do it that would be great. It's a beautiful time of the year with four hour cruises with food on both the Southern Belle and the Blue Moon. You can have Lookout Mountain and Rock City all you want, but nothing compares to the beauty of the river, especially the River Canyon area. Another incredibly nice place to visit in Chattanooga is the Aquarium. > > > > > > Hey Everybody! > > > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues. Guest guest
Peggy Two choices of cruise providers: Blue Moon- http://www.bluemooncruises.org/cruise_fall_color.htm - which is $49. Southern Belle - http://www.chattanoogariverboat.com/www/cruise-details?cruise_id=75 & date\ =1256918400 - which is $30 Hopefully flu shots, especially swine flu shots, will be available prior to then, although I wouldn't bet on it. I don't know about your area, but around here Swine Flu has picked up steam during a period there normally isn't much flu. A church youth choir group had over 30 members get it and another camp group experienced similar problems. In fact, many camps have been cancelled as a result. The good side is that it is treatable, does respond well to Tamiflu. But we all need to remain alert to its possibility now and during flu season and get medical care immediately if we get it. In fact, if you have known exposure to it, I'd recommend seeing a doctor about Tamiflu. > > > > > > > > > Hey Everybody! > > > > > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues. Guest guest
Jane Chattanooga has some of the best restaurants for a relatively small town. We always attributed that to the tourism. It's a beautiful area. Last time I was there I spent a couple of hours just on the riverfront looking at the river and watching people and watching boats go by. I lived on the river and once took a trip by boat that covered 8 days and many lakes. The weekend before my long trip I went to Fort Loudoun Lake and Watts Bar north toward Knoxville and back through Lake Chicamauga. Then on my trip I covered Lake Nickajack, Guntersville Lake, Wheeler Lake, Lake, and Pickwick Lake on the Tennessee and then took the Tombigbee river south and covered Bay Springs Lake, Montgomery Pool, Rankin Pool, Fulton Pool, Wilkins Pool, Amory Pool, Aberdeen Lake and Columbus Lake. Needless to say I was very good at locking through from one to another. This stands out because its the only true vacation I took over a 25 year period or so. Now I did top it last year with my 17 day car trip. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Everybody! > > > > > > > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues. Guest guest
Pink Definitely. The PA contingent itself has gotten quite large. I know some of you have met before and hope you will have some sort of get-together. While we don't have such a Texas contingent (well, we can be in Texas and still be hundreds of miles apart), I still treasure the local meetings I've had with several people. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Everybody! > > > > > > > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues. Guest guest
Bruce, Seems you covered a lot of territory on your water trip. My grandparents had a boathouse and cabin cruiser on Lake Chickamauga at Gold Point Marina. I have a lot of memories of the times we spent there. Have you heard about the river boat that used to be a hotel? It is now docked in Chattanooga and will open up in the fall. I think it is now open so people can tour it. I cannot remember the name of the boat. My fondest memory of Lake Guntersville is trying to learn how to ski but I just couldn;'t do it. I remember just floating in the water, right in the middle of that great big lake! LOL Toodles! Guest guest
Jane That's the Delta Queen. The same riverboat company owned three that cruised the rivers and now has gone out of operation. The Delta Queen is docked and already in operation in Chattanooga. Sad to me. It needs to be cruising the rivers, not sitting. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Everybody! > > > > > > > > > > > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues.
