Guest guest
Here's something I was told by my pulmo at Duke yesterday. He told me they expect that there will be a H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine by early September. Hopefully it will be available in enough quantity for full distribution but folks like us always get first dibs on any available supply. The regular flu shot should also be a priority for all of us and that one will be available in Septembr as usual. In addition we should all get the pneumonia vaccine every 5 years. We are currently in a pandemic of H1N1 flu. That means it has spread all over the world and is continuing to infect people regardless of whether we are out of the typical flu season. From what I've read we are going to have the first year round flu season in a very long time. I don't know about your area, but around here Swine Flu has picked up steam during a period therenormally isn't much flu. A church youth choir group had over 30 membersget it and another camp group experienced similar problems. In fact, many camps have been cancelled as a result. The good side is that it istreatable, does respond well to Tamiflu. But we all need to remain alertto its possibility now and during flu season and get medical careimmediately if we get it. In fact, if you have known exposure to it, I'drecommend seeing a doctor about Tamiflu.> > >> > >> > > Hey Everybody!> > >> > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues. Guest guest
Beth Thanks for the information. I didn't realize they were moving quite that fast. I knew it had been declared and pandemic. I believe took credit for that, saying it had hit Australia and that pushed it over the edge. What I guess most of us expected was for it to remain calm until flu season. It's not doing that. On the church youth choir tour I mentioned, out of 70 kids, 30 had swine flu and I'm sure some of the others exposed may have it by now. When you crowd a bunch of kids into two buses it can move fast. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Everybody! > > > > > > > > The sign-up for the trip to meet in Chattanooga continues.
