Guest guest
, Are you on prednisone for an inflammation situation ? Because it has been tried and tested that prednisone does NOTHING forIPF. I was on it for a year. I had some pneumonia at the time of diagnosis. And took a year to get off. But I still have the 70 pounds.. Of course I love baked goods. Never again. I do realize we are each different.. But Please talk to your Dr. and ask WHY the pred. Take side effects then the meds to make them better.. not worth it. In the end you still have the disease and havegained weight, no sleep, shakes, crazy mood swings. more aches and pains than I've ever had while truing to come off it. Best of luck to you. My advise get off it..Now I'll wait for the spanking.. but I would never put anything on this board that I didn't KNOW to be a fact............. Good morning, I've been on 40mg prednisone for over a week now and didn't mind how it made me feel, like I was well again! But what are we supposed to do about sleep? Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the board. I have only been here for a few days, but already feel very welcome. For now I have been weaned down to 10mg. daily, which is down from your 40Mg. I take calcium and vitamin D every night before going to bed. Because you are taking prednasone, you might think about a calcium supplement now. Those of us who have lung disease have a higher risk of bone loss, and adding prednasone increases that risk even more over the long haul. Try calcium for sleep as well as good bone health. Even better, try drinking buttermilk or eating yogurt before turning in. Calcium is readily available in milk products. JerryWho believes that hard times help us appreciate the good times even more. Guest guest
Thanks Peggy. My doc said he wanted to try me on the predisone because he said it works for some and not for others. He said more than likely he will take me off of it after six weeks. My bronchoscopy results showed mild inflammation. He thought it might help with the cough, but it doesn't. The other two meds he put me on are Azathioprine and Acetylcystein, which he said take about 6-8 weeks to start working. So maybe the prednisone is just until those kick-in. Are you familiar with these other two meds? He feels positive they are going to STOP the growth of the cells from scarring anymore. I'm scare of the weight gain, but even more concerned about the loss of sleep and what that's going to do to me over the next few weeks.
