Well it has been a long haul for you and Glenn. Surely hope he continues to

feel a bit better each day, and hopefully getting him out of the house today

will help as well.

Golly the poor guy he can't afford to lose any more weight.

Sorry that you picked up the bug.. Sounds like some major nasty stuff. Do

you use that alcohol gel stuff like Germ X too. I noticed when I was in

hospital - they are very conscientious about washing hands but also has they

leave the room the reach up on the wall and get a couple squirts of the Germ

X like gel as well. There is big sign up in hospital this past week that it

being Infection prevention week or month..

Well in a bit have to call Judy and reschedule my scope.. What an idiot I

was .. Swear I am going senile sometimes. Why would I schedule something

like that during T Day week.. Dumb dumb dumb..

You are are continually in my prayers... Hugs and Stuff Jolene

Dear Donelle, So glad things are a bit better for you two. Hope you can go out a

little bit. Maybe going to the cinema will help both to distract.

Love you, my prayers to both of you. Lydia

Hi everyone!!

Well, it's been a " crappy " long 7 wks....but I think, " I THINK " , he's

getting better from the anti-biotic related Colitis (also called C-Diff...which

is

the short name for a really long one). Remember, the anti-biotic kills off

the " good " bacteria as well as the " bad " . The diarrhea is down to 1-3 times

a day instead of 20-30-40 times a day AND night. This last rx was so

expensive that the GI Spec. gave us 40 sample packs... because the co-pay on

the

last one was $187 and he knew this script would be even higher co=pay. It is a

new anti=biotic called Xifaxan...

Glenn is not feeling " well " , but he is definitely feeling better just in the

last couple days, than the last 7 weeks plus. He's lost another 13 lbs. in

the last few weeks.

Just to show you the difference in a sick body and an almost well

body....C-Diff is highly contagious. I didn't contract it the last time he had

it

about 6 mos. ago. I've used a different bathroom and been EXTREMELY careful in

any cleaning up I've done for Glenn. Cleaning floors, scrubbing carpet,

picking up his soiled briefs and washing them, etc. but didn't wear rubber

gloves. I've washed my hands more in the last few weeks than in my whole

life!!

At any rate, I still picked up the germ....I figure my resistance is low

anyway...and more so since I had severe bronchitis/ sinusitis infection. But,

I

did not get diarrhea, b/c as soon as I noticed a mucous-y discharge

rectally, I started taking Glenn's Flagyl that they gave him 7 wks. ago that

didn't

even begin to touch it for him. I was on a cough syrup with codeine, which

had me bound up a little, so I was going often, but not diarrhea. You feel

like you have to go all the time....and if you are having diarrhea, you DO go

all the time!!! I'm still taking the Flagyl and will finish the rx. I've been

a little sluggish, but able to function, go to work, eat, etc. But, it's

amazing to me how my body responded so quickly to the meds and how long it's

taken for many different meds to even make a dent for Glenn!!

Guess we are progressing here....but I feel like I'm waiting for the bomb to

drop... and wondering what will happen next for my sweetie?? It's a

terrible feeling...I try to stay positive, but he is so negative...so

depressed...so

sad. He's having trouble sleeping at night and it may be this new rx....he

thinks/dreams about dying. Once he gets a little stronger, we will get some

depression meds. I'm off work tomorrow, b/c I worked Friday, so I will try

to get him out of the house for a bit. He's only been out 2 times in 7 wks.

and that was drs. and hospital visit.

Well, it's really been pretty boring around here lately... with Glenn

sleeping so much, seems like all I do is go to work, come home, clean up around

the

house, wash dirty clothes, work on my webstore, go to bed and do it all over

again the next day. Actually I guess I've been doing that for quite a while

now...like a year...LOL

My niece got married yesterday...and all 5 of my little grandchildren were

in the wedding and my older granddaughter was the Maid of Honor. They were

all gorgeous, of course. I'm really mad at myself for not taking more closeups

of individuals. But, I'm making a wedding album for my niece, so got some

nice group photos for her album.

Everyone take care....Love you all, Donelle

Thanks Jolene for the prayers!!! Well, he's gotten a shower....now

napping... we might get out the door before dark...trying to go to BJ's or

Sam's

Club...he loves those warehouse type stores!! I HATE shopping of any

kind...unless it's online!!

But, I'd like to get him " out of the compound " for a bit...

Please get him on probiotics. When you are on antibiotics (not to mention

chemo), all of the beneficial bacteria in the colon is killed right along

with

all the bad stuff. You can ask for a live brand with millions of those

active little guys at your health food store. Do you have Whole Foods

where you

live?

...exactly what is probiotics?? Is it a pill or powder or liquid??

And why don't drs. tell us these things are available?? I did know the

anti-b kill all the bacteria, but for 7 wks we've tried all kinds of

prescriptions....and almost anything mentioned here (except for yogurt... he

wouldn't do

that)
