Way to Go Gordon!! Hi Priscilla, I have just thought reading " Our Updated Stories " that maybe we could make a book to raise some money. We are so many in this group, and even if we all have the same problem, each of our story is unique. I have learned much more from the group than from any other place. Our stories are written in a very simple way, but they also carry our human way of being. Most (not all of course) of the emails on the web, could be transfered to paper and then sold. It could encourage other people and they can learn from others experience. You can carry your book to work, read on the bus...It's different from a computer. Well, Just a thought ! Love, Lydia . Guest guest
And the people who already passed away? Should we try and then ask a permission to their relatives? I can start from the begining, when the group has just been formed. I can look up for those mails that are more important. Mail that has to do with medical answers and mail that has to do with the emotional side of our stories. I think it would be nice to gather about 200 pages if we can. We could also add some pictures to the pages that are too short. Pictures of nature with out having to compromising any one. Also it would be nice to have a folder on the web, where to file all this work. And also it would be nice if other people would like to help. Even new stories could be added. I loved Deb Vamdembos story. It had a lot about the treatment information, but also, very importan was her way of relating her emotions towards her situation. And this is a part where you don't easily find in books. We all relate to our problems in a different way and this group has so many different cases that can be used just for the sake of helping others. Also, dear friends, Maybe I should have asked you in the first place - What do you think of this idea? Maybe together we could make a nice job. People who doesn't want their name out, could use an another name. What's important is the inside of the story. All my love to everyone, Lydia Priscilla Savary wrote: That is a great idea. Guest guest
I love the idea. And I hope that some of you will too. As always, no one's information will be used without your expressed permission. One of the things that I like is that it does present a more whole picture of colon cancer. Mostly the books out there are one person's experience. And sometimes I feel like its too much about that one person. Sometimes not. Individual short stories are easy to digest and remember. How's this for a dedication (I know...we don't even have a book and I'm writing dedications....as the Spirit moves eh?): " Dedicated to Altman, the founder of the Colon_cancer_support@... listserv. Whose guidance and caring have helped thousands. And to all of the brave souls who are members of the list who share every day with one another from their hearts and experiences. Bravery and compassion has never known better. " Priscilla A. Guest guest
Priscilla the idea to dedicate the book to Altman couldn't be any better. He started this group and he gave us the oportunity to be together today. Not so alone in our sorrows. I thought that we may start putting together different stories: That is his, for example Altman story all together, at first, then start other peoples stories, but each story all together in bundles (?) Has any one more experience or different ideas? Love Lydia Priscilla Savary wrote: I love the idea. And I hope that some of you will too.
