Guest guest
Mike--if your adrenals are not producing enough (or too much) cortisol, then T4 cannot convert to T3. Selenium or iodine would not help in this situation. The cortisol helps the thyroid convert from T4 to T3, if it cannot convert, T4 will sit in your blood until cortisol is added----this is when people experience a thyroid dump. If you add cortisol, do it slowly to see if you have " thyroid dump " symptoms (rush of overstimulation, hot, fast heartrate etc). Also, you might consider switching to T3 only medication. It reduces complications. Thats what I ended up doing. Guest guest
Hello Mike, My experience: I had symptoms of thyroid dis-function (especially fatigue and temp regulation issues) but I treated adrenals and that helped alot. I followed protocol www.adrenalfatigue.org and got my doctor to prescribe a low dose hydrocortisone which I took in the morning only (others take it morning and midday). After 6-8 months of tapering dose of Hydrocortisone I began to feel hyper-thyroid so I quit taking the hydrocortisone. In my experience the issue was adrenal dis-regulation, which I believe is caused by Hg monkey-ing around in the Hypothalamus-Pituitary axis (brain mercury). When this subtle hormone interplay is interrupted it screws everything up downstream adrenal, thyroid, pancreas etc.... I am five rounds into DMPS and it feels like adrenal and thyroid are continuing to slowly improve. I too wanted to supplement to support thyroid, my solution was to take a broad spectrum mineral supplement (Krebs Cycle chelates) and eat sea vegetables (all the trace minerals and iodine). I could feel when I was overdoing it with the Hiziki, dulse and arame but it wasn't over the top feeling I got with concentrated supplements - easier to regulate.
