As for the sulfur content of food, it's not simple. As discussed here

recently, is about how much sulfur is readily available. That's

different from what you find when you do a chemical analysis of the food.

Is Andy saying that the methionine is out for everyone, or just for

people who are high in sulfur?

Dave.

One of my supplements has a little bit of methionine added to it.

(depending on dosage that would be 5-20mg/day)

It's not much but i am worried because Andy says methionine is one of

the 'forbidden' things. I looked up the methionine content of various

low sulphur foods and found they have much more than 20mg of methionine

in them.

I now wonder now if it safe to take the supplement. Does andy have a

conservative estimate on how much mg of methionine per pound would be

safe to supplement on a daily basis?

Thanks

I don't know if my understanding will help with sulfur but I will

give it a go.

When we Chelate mercury we take DMSA, ALA and DMPS. These chelate

because they have two sulfide branches in their chemical makeup. I

think of these chelating agents as having two hands to pick up the

mercury. Mercury loves this thiol bond.

Sulfur foods have one thiol branch in their chemical makeup. Mercury

still loves the bond but because it is only holding on with one hand,

in stead of two, the mercury is not removed from the body, just moved

around close to where it is picked up. When the mercury drops it

causes symptoms.

about 30-50% of mercury toxic people have a problem with sulfur

foods. (I did). I used to get a numb leg and arm all the time,

this went away immediatley after eliminating sulfur from my diet.

There is a list of food to avoid in the file section.

Hope this helps.
