Guest guest
Becky, I am following a high dose protocol that is considered extremely safe. Of course, Mark is not a toddler but about a 100 lbs so you may not be asking about him! Unfortunately, I don't have time to go hunting the net for the studies but many studies show that the traditional Eskimo and Inuit diet consumption is of far greater amounts of oils daily then our high dose amounts. There was a study done whereby kids were given 1 tablespoon a day of 3.6.9 which substantially reduced ADHD & dyslexic symptoms. I use this dosage. This stuff has been around for eons. I actually purchased the book, The LCP Sollution by Stordy (which includes a lot of these studies) when Mark was 6..... so that was about 7 years ago. I think that this book was old even when I bought it. Omega supplementation, if you read reviews by Dr. Oz and others, is one of the best overall anti-oxidents to the body and probably one of the safest supplements to administer. I have actually heard many recommend Eskimo Fish Oil and Krill Oil over the others. Because Mark is has extremely low vitamin A levels, we use Cod Liver Oil but I would not generally recommend this as too much vitamin A can be toxic and we are being 'closely' monitored. I see my doctor about once or twice a month so we are under close medical supervision right now. I began basic supplementing well before even finding a good doctor and I think that this has set the stage for success. We did a lot of the work ahead of time and just dove in and got started. On the chelation front, this is something that should (imo) be done under a doctors care and attention. The child should be monitored by a professional but one can begin to supplement vitamins and such very safely on their own. As with all things, one should use some basic common sense. I just loved the DAN Webcasts on the Autism.com site. Check some of them out for they are so informative and interesting. I think that I spent an entire week watching them in awe this summer. Janice [sPAM]Re: [ ] Omega Question For all of those who are giving the adult dose to their toddlers-- Can I ask a serious question? I don't intend this to sound mean-- but I'm asking in seriousness. do you have any Nutritionist or Dr. that is saying to give those adult dosages or are you choosing to do that on your own? Is it really considered safe to give a child an ADULT Dose? I guess this is something that makes me very hesitant with starting the supplements, because I am just totally unwilling to do adult doses of anything for a child-- it would make me too nervous. Is there a specific reason why you'd give the adult dose and not just give the child dosage? thanks Becky **************Start the year off right.
