Peggy,

Yup rehab Monday thru Friday 12:30-4:30. Don't think I'll be stupid smacking anyone though dear. LOL They've been doing this at Duke for 25 years and it's intended to be challenging. But it's also safe. We are very closely monitored and we have plenty of opportunities to sit and rest, have a drink, have a snack if we want etc. Also not all that time is exercise. There is a strong educational component. We have a short 'class' every day with some type of information on lung disease, medications, breathing techniques etc etc.

Starting next week I can also get in the pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the 'water walking' class. That's walking in the water not on it by the way.

Don't worry about me, I can handle it. There is an 87 year old woman from my church in class with me and she's coping. They customize all the different exercise components to each individuals ability so it works pretty well for all of us.

And honestly as hard as it is, I'm loving it. I walk out exhausted but I know I've done something very good for myself. Please don't worry, I will be fine. I promise!

Hugs,

Beth

Hi tired one.. Question-- do you do rehab everyday 12 to 4 ??? and I were talking about that today and I

just hope not. If so you need to stupid smack someone.. your body can't take all that. I got so tired thinking about you

working that hard I had to go take a nap. Seriously how is it going ? I know you are glad the week-end is here.

You just may need to come catch some porch time.. It is getting close. 16 eggs a day.. all my neighbors are going to

have very high cholesterol. Everyone leaving this house takes eggs.. lol

I am so glad you are enjoying the class. I know you can handle it. When I think about being your age and watch and the things y'all can do I know I deserve a good rest. I was quite active at one point. I still do a lot in my head so after a while of dream running, swimming and biking I have to take a nap. lol You are gonna LOVE the water walking. I had a pool in Tampa just for exercise 4' deep X 25' long. I did a lot of mileagein that pool and the grandkids made sure it was well used. I won't worry. I just hope I remember not to call you in class.. Peggy,

Don't worry about calling me while I'm at rehab. The phone is in my bag, in my locker so it's not bothering anyone.

How are you feeling today?

Joyce,

50 foot (or more) lengths of tubing hooked up to either E tanks or Helios Marathons. I won't get in the water till Tuesday so I'm not certain how it works logistically with 4 or 5 of us in the water at once but they have assured me they do it all the time. I'm very curious!

Beth, What a trooper you are! My rehab is Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to

2:15. I've already missed 2 classes. The first time I was home sick coughing up

some " aspirated crumbs, " the second was just this past Thursday and frankly, I

just fell asleep.

I get tired just thinking about it! We're given plenty of time to rest between

exercises and drink our water. I just get absolutely exhausted. Rehab Tuesday,

sleep ALL day Wednesday and on and on. I keep giving myself those mental pep

talks, telling myself I asked for the rx and it is meant to help me.

God bless ya lady! Seeing your bootcamp like itenerary gives me a more positive

outlook of my meager rehab schedule. Your strength and positivity is quite

encouraging.

Beth,

As much as I like my rehab I wish I could go 5 days a week. It makes me feel

good. I have so much more stamina since starting rehab. I am allowed to go 3

days a week. I use the NuStep, arm bike, weights, treadmill, and walk. My

favorite is the NuStep. I wish I could have one at home. Wow, I wish I could go

in the pool. Let me know how it feels. The last time I went into the pool I was

pregnant and there was too much pressure on my lungs. I wonder what it be like

now.

Good luck to you...
