Guest guest
Hi, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. Once you have surgery you will find out what stage it is and if you will need chemo or not. Please take it one step at a time. I had satge three with the tumor perferating my colon. One lymph node positive. Did six months chemo and am a survivor. You can make it too. Please post and let us know how you are doing. Adding you to my Prayers. Guest guest
I was diagnosed February 25, 2005 with colon cancer. At this time I was 42 years old. My treatment plan included 7 weeks of chemo (5FU and Lev) and 28 treatments of radiation. (this was done to shrink the cancer) I had first surgery on July 15, 2005. After this surgery I had an illeostomy for 3 months. I am now recovering from the second surgery - to reverse the illeostomy. I no longer have the illeostomy and things seem to be working ok. Still have some diarrhea. After first surgery I had six weeks of chemo. I will be having 6 more weeks of chemo starting November 22. My treatment plan is almost done. I have had good news although the mass had perforated the wall, it did reach the lymph nodes. My surgeon test 15 lymph nodes all negative. Cancer had not spread to secondary areas such as liver and lungs. So my prognosis seems good. However, it has been a long, tiring and sometimes depressing ride. But as someone told me, in ten years, this year will only seem like a nightmare. So the only advice I can give while still recovering myself, is to just hang in there, and keep a positive mental attitude.
