I'm not sure that my answer will help you much-- but here goes

Our SLP (the private one we use here at home-- not the one at the CCD that

we go to)

uses a MIXED approach using both the Kaufman AND the PROMPT methods. She

basically is taking her 35 yrs of experience in the Speech field, and her

training with both m ethods, and catering a method that is geared for his

specific

needs.

I would be wary of an SLP who wanted to try ONLY one thing or another--

because quite honestly, I feel that all of our kids need a program that is

specifically geared for their needs in order to be TRULY effective.

Why not suggest this to your SLP? Ask if there's a way to use combined

methods to reach your child?

I know that there are mixed thoughts on PROMPT, but I think with the right

person and the right amount of trust factor with the therapist and child, it

can work effectively. I know that some kids don't like to be touched, so

obviously that should be taken into consideration as well.

My PROMPT speech therapist uses Kaufman Cards as well. Works great for my 30

month old boy who in August 2007 had 6 approx words. Now testing at and

above for language and comprehension. We also use biomed and diet.
